European Football Championships for dummies?
Yesterday I watched a game between two English teams Chelsea and Liverpool. Chelsea won it and they were presented with a silver cup. Common sense says the season was over like any other sports franchise. Then today, flipping the channels on the TV, I stumbled upon another championship game between Manchester City some other team ODR? It was the best game I've seen for a long time. Manchester City scored two beautiful goals in five minutes and won the game by one goal. Then the commentators started to call this team the champions. That was crazy enough, or so I thought. As soon as the game was over I went to the hotel bar and this dude tells me he watched "both" games simultaneously. What two games? there were two games to decide the championship.
Can some1 explain how this soccer thing works for dummies like me? tnx in advance.
Is the thing officially over now?

The first tournament you just mentioned is called the FA cup, that's a knockout tournament from start to finish with teams in all the top divisions in the UK playing in it. The 2nd tournament is the Primierleague where basically 20 of the best squads in the UK play 38 games and the team with the most points near or at the end of the season wins the trophy. Generally this is considered the more rewarding trophy. Pretty much every euro country has 2 two tournaments.
Re: European Football Championships for dummies?
I think the team that won today will play the team that won yesterday for the final super epic championship.

Football should just not be allowed to be broadcasted in America. Just, no.

There are several different competitions in club football. There are the league titles made up of clubs competing in domestic leagues in each country. Then there is the Champions League which is a continental competition made up of Europe's best clubs. Today what was at stake was the winner of the English domestic league as well as spots for next seasons Champions League. The domestic league winner is awarded by points and that Man City match you were watching was their final of the season, with a chance to win the English league if they won.

Oh no, there are great fans here...it's just the MLS is years behind. Once we get rid of the play-off system and introduce lower division with the prospect of promotion/relegation, the league will take off...You know I played soccer here in HS and you get unlimited subtitutions1_londoner wrote:Football should just not be allowed to be broadcasted in America. unbelievable that you as african and somali cant nothing about football or what you call soccer. dum you north america

sxb let me explaine your question about the English Football leage . firts Chelsea and liverpool they were playing the finals of FA cup and MAN CITY today they won the championship of english leage wiches called premier league.
FA cup and premier league both waxaa la ciyaaraa same season. FA CUP WAXAA ka qeybqaata all clubs first second and third leages. lakiin premier league whichs most important waxaa ka qeybqaata only kooxaha heerka koowaad kaliya.
the finest think you can win in your country is the premier league koobka horyaalka which Manchester city won today, its much hurder and than second one fA cup wich chelsea won is second. and FA cup its not as imporant as premier league championship, horyaalka kooxaha dalkaaga.
and the most prestigious of all is to win European champion leage whichs competition between top winning europeans teams.
marka sxb anagana waxaan la yaabnaa north america baseball oo kale oo aan meelo baddan dunida laga ciyaarin kooxda ku guuleeysata whit in united states leage waxaa looga yeeraa world champions. ama xitaa NBA winners waxaa loogu yeeraa world champions. world waxay ula jeedaan only north america. marka sxb Soccer is the real sport waa
