I never understood why people support a country that's not theirs, it's so strange. I understand Somalis supporting teams like ghana because it's the only really successful african team and Somalia's not in the FIFA world cup. But Brazil, Italy, Argentina, France iyo waxaa maxaa idinka galey? I live in the UK and I don't even support England.

that's cause England s*cks

we like their soccer teams. It's like why do people support teams in cities which they don't even live in.

That's neither here nor there. Holland are a very good team but I don't support them becuase Holland has nothing to do with me. The reason people support teams like Barca or Man Utd is becuase they don't represent cities so much as being sports clubs that reside in a city - anyone can play for them and so that must mean anyone can support them e.g. Nani is Portuguese, but plays for Man Utd - an English team.

Well if your reasoning is you shouldn't support a team which country you're not from and Nani is playing for a country he's not from, do you see what I'm trynna get at here

3/4ths of the French team ain't really French, hell Wayne Rooney ain't even really English

Well, in regards to the french, the rules seem to have become lax these days. National teams should be comprised of people whose ancestors were from that area and who have ethnic ties to the country in question. Cape Verdeans are mostly mulattoes of Mixed Portuguese-african descent, so an argument may be able to be made for them. Lakiin nowadays it seems all you have to do is live in a certain country for a few years (sometimes not even a year) and ouala! they're suddenly playing for the national team - like that black nigerian guy who used play for Poland  .

All I'm saying is, it seems a bit odd to me that you would support a national team of a country you have little to no ties with what-so-ever let alone the ones you have absolutley nothing to do with.

I think I'll be supporting Croatia this time around. Usually during Euros, I'm interested in England as there are Villa players who are playing (we produced the most England internationals throughout history), but Roy Hodgson picked the blandest and most safe squad he could pick. Andy Carroll? LOL. Downing? ROFL. Oxlade-Chamberlain? Way to turn him into Walcott 2.0. Not to mention, no Darren Bent (but 5 ex Villa players of the past 3/4 years...which says it all really).

Slaven Bilic's team is full of good players, and they play really dynamic football. Not to mention Luka Modric (one of my favorite midfielders) plays for them. My darkhorse team. I expect a Germany/Holland v Spain final though.
