
Breaking News: ONLF Troops attack Ethiopian Military Base in Baabile.
ONLF, Ogaden National Liberation Front, attacked a military base In Jigjiga Zone in Ogaden Region, a source said to Ogadentoday Press.
The attack took place on Sunday late afternoon, The ONLF Troops attacked a base located in Baabile, a district in Ogaden Region about 66 Km from the west of Somali Ogaden Capital Jigjiga.
There have been a massive attack, and both sides were using heavy weapons, the report added.
The region is on violent politics and conflict between, ONLF and Ethiopian troops based in Ogaden Region.
In April 2007, the Ogaden National Liberation Front, separatist group known as the ONLF attacked a Chinese-run oil exploration site in the Ogaden, killing 65 Ethiopian and nine Chinese workers.
Ethiopia claimed the Ogaden region in the late 19th century through a series of agreements with Italy and the U.K., which colonized much of modern-day Somalia. Somalis Ogaden people have opposed Ethiopian rule.
The region is cut off from the world, and there is no any independent media presence, aid organizations and human right groups accuses Ethiopia government for committing crimes against humanity, a move Addis ababa denied.
The Ogaden Region is believed to be Oil producing and Gas in next Years, as Ethiopian Prime Minister Melez Zenawi told reporters in Addis Ababa last week.
ONLF wants the oil should not be produced unless Ogaden cause should be solved politically and International community to find long lasting solution in Ogaden cause.
ONLF is fighting the independence of Ogaden Region in Ethiopia and has been founded by Ogaden people in 1984.
