As most of you know, I am in nairobi. Today my friend from the states took me out to the city since ive only been here since like last Wednesday.

We went to this 5 star hotel to eat and chill there. It has a 3rd floor outdoor restaurant facing this lion sanctuary wilderness. Just absolutely awesome!

Anyways thats not my point.

As we were leaving, at the enterance, while coming down there stairs, I saw the most expensive SUV car known to the third world. Holly crap. There were also several dudes standing outside around the car dressed in a customized suits. They were all Somalis.

At the back was a guy. His window was rolled down. So i can tell who he was. It was this guy



So my question is? How on earth can this man afford such a car with a meagre official income.... Therefore, if we gona have corrupt people like this then I prefer that we forever stay unstable...So effing corrupt...so soo sooo corrupt.

I understand that an official gotta dress up well when meeting up with other officials and important people...

but to a 5 star hotel, around 9 pm African time, at a hotel meant for "extra-activities". No one is gona make believe this car is owned by the Somali gov. I estimated this car to cost around 90k...

sxb, I wasnt interested in sitting down with them nor did I honestly cared..but understand my point though...We talking about an official representing the famine stricken nation of Somalia. His official salary from the Somali gov towards this guy is about $1200...Before he got this job he was a downtown parking lot worker..so are you persuade me to believe this man earned this cash by pious means?

Menace: the man is politician. It goes without saying that there are many people that wish to be friends with him. And since there is very little or no oversight committee to watch over them don't expect them to be moral.


Executive: the problem i think is that most of them assume that Africa is cheap to live in or do business. They rely heavily on opinions from relatives over 5 minute phone conversations here and there before packing up and diving head first into a shark tank. The smart ones stay in north America running their home healthcare or trucking businesses, sometimes both with with little startup capital and monthly take homes of 10-15k. I personally know few guys that make 200k or more annually, only downside to that is there are no somali owned and run hedge funds they can invest with and even if there were there is always a tribe issue. Therein lies the rub, as some would say.

Where are you guys taking this conversation... I swear I didnt go there hoping to run into the Ambassador..I was solely there to eat and look out into the distance to see if I can see a lion(The downtown wildlife park was our view from this hotel)...And u guys talking about something so unrelated to my point...

Corruption is as Somali as bariis with hilib ari. It's part of the Somali culture.

I experienced it at a young age. Don't be surprised Menace. You'll see it so often in Nairobi that by the time you're about to go to the states, you will have accepted it

Im a realist dude, so I know how our people and particularly our African continent is corrupt...But to see corruption in action bothers me too much..you know what comes to my mind? those starving people in Somalia...
