Puntland & Galmudug move to bring Turkey unfairness to light

In the joint press statement both governments said that after much consideration they realize that that the “Turkish role in Somalia objects to consulting the Somali people”. According to the statement the Turkish role is also misbalanced and not transparent enough.

Interestingly enough without educating themselves on the matter, Somalis who have always been opposed to both Puntland and Galmudug progress have already condemned these two respectful states move; most Somalis who are illiterates have always been known to jump the gun.

As to why Somaliland had a change of heart most of these illiterates would tell you it's because of Puntland's move, some really do believe doing the opposite of whatever Puntland does is where their interest lays. God help us... I've always been opposed to Puntland becoming its own Republic but as of late I can't fathom how anyone who sympathizes with Puntland can continue that stands when dealing with such crowd

The real fact as to way Somaliland is going is far from that however; its going because the government of Turkey has made it clear to them that the government of Turkey will deal separately with the government of Somaliland.

To me this seems like Turkey has been bought by Siilaanyo and Shiikh Shariif's constituents since it seems with such statement they decided to completely bypass engaging sub-state political stakeholders like Puntland and Galmudug.

I'm not so sure if Turkey is serious about promoting real peace and stability anymore and I'm glad Farole and Calin didn't tag along; Somalia doesn't revolve around Mogadishu and Harigayso alone, this is a fragmented nation and as such Turkey needs to go back to the drawing board. Again I'm glad Farole and Calin took it upon themselves to bring Turkey's unfairness to light... little late but better then never.

But the Ethiopian Government is?

This is why Farole disgusts me. He is a man without morals. He stands for nothing, except making a buck. Look where he signed this agreement, Ethiopia. No one here can deny that Ethiopia isn’t the ones who have ordered Farole to reject the conference. Just look at it, he was summoned to Ethiopia and now he comes out with this decision.

Any of you, who have the nerve to even criticize Turkey in anyway, and then remain silent about Ethiopia, should be ashamed of yourself. No matter what you try and proclaim about Turkey and its motives, they do not have Somali blood on their hands. It is sickening to think that Farole sits in Ethiopia of (all places) and criticizes Turkey’s motives, even after they sent doctors - on more then one occasion - throughout Puntland. Turkey is saving Somali lives and helping our people. Ethiopia is not. Can any one produce pictures of Ethiopian doctors helping our beloved Puntlanders?



If Farole is going to speak against Turkey's role in Somalia, atleast do it somewhere else but Ethiopia.

^No Puntland isn't about to make an enemy out of Ethiopia while every other Somali is at her backdoor begging for favors. I would assume the ones with morals are Siilaanyo and Shiikh Shariif right? Perhaps the clannish elders from Mogadishu, those who manage to reject Garowe to host the roadmap process or maybe the Ala-Sheikh Group who were also against the roadmap process, because of its inclusiveness to bring in regions like Puntland, etc. Kid since you can't seem to see past Farole I'm afraid you don't know what you talking about.

The Turkish government has given Somalia a sum close to 400 million dollars in assistance over the past year, almost half a billion yet Puntland was kept in the dark. Your right it wasn't dollars which Puntland saw, just few doctors and only after Puntland minister of health pleaded for them to come, a total of two visits each only lasting three days long.

The Turkish government also promised dozens of development projects for Somalia including hospitals, schools, scholarships, and infrastructure. Where has it all gone? I doubt even the Turkish government can tell you this.

Not only has Puntland been kept in dark about all this aid coming from Turkey, but just yesterday news has surfaced about how Turkey will deal separately with the government of Somaliland. All this I think had made it clear to both Puntland and Galmudug that Turkey neither cares where its assistance to Somalia goes nor serious about promoting real peace and stability now that the Turkish government is favoring one region over the other.

What favors are Somalis begging from Ethiopia? What are they providing for Somalia? Is it, humanitarian assistance, developmental, educational, etc etc??? In the short time that Turkey has been in Somalia it has provided more help to us then Ethiopia has ever. Like I said if you think Turkey is favoring one region over another, just look at where Farole is right now. All Ethiopia does is exploit our divisions and you can see this by the way they invite Puntland, Somaliland, Galmudug and TFG leadership to their country to meet Meles. Governments from the rest of the world know that this is not protocol; heads of state meet heads of state. Like I said before, no one, not even Farole can complain about Turkey when we are allied with Ethiopia. In short, all the issue's or rumors you have concerning Turkey's role in Somalia are things that Ethiopia does far worse of. Yet Farole has no issue's running to them when he is summoned.

I can't look past Farole? Of course not, he is the one the people put in charge and who was given the privilege of running the amazing state of Puntland. I won't list the problems he has caused but I will say that rejecting the conference in Turkey is another massive blunder, a blunder that has no doubt been orchestrated by Ethiopia. Because of Turkey, we have seen huge improvements done in Mogadishu, where it is believed that over 30,000 people have access to clean water. Plus numerous students from Puntland and all over have gone to Turkey to study. More importantly, one of Turkey's most valuable means of assistance was bringing awareness to Somalia's plight. Indeed, after years of being in the news concerning negative issues like, Al-Shabaab or Piracy, the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has brought the poverty we are facing back to the world stage.

The issue you have with the allocation of assistance from Turkey is absolutely legitimate. All the points you provided is something that must be thoroughly discussed. From the surface it appears there is an imbalance with how some area's are being treated. That is why it is very important to attend the conference, so Farole can express his grievance in an open forum. Farole can use all the points you made and address them in front of the entire conference. Whatever issue Farole has with Turkey's humanitarian assistance, he can express them point by point at the conference. However, now he is in Ethiopia and is rejecting the conference. Speaking through websites or sending letters is nothing compared to expressing you displeasure in person. However, Ethiopia knows that this conference might lead (ever so slightly) to Somali unity and this is something they won’t allow.
