We are talking oil here a resource unlike any other. Billions of dollars worth of oil that the world is hungry for.
At this point this is Puntland's only political leverage, we should all stand for it's defense.
Mogadishu even though it's called the Somali capital today is really a Hawiye capital since 95% of the population there are Hawiye and 70% living in looted properties. These guys hit the jackpot by hijacking the Somali capital and making it their political leverage, which they have been defending for over 21 years now. Shiek Sharif was made president of Somalia because of this political leverage.How on earth can we except the continuation of the status quo? How can we except a Hawiye capital to be the seat of a Federal Somali Government, without returning the city's looted property & people?
There are talks of rebuilding Mogadishu, billion dollar projects already underway. But why is there no real talk of the looted properties, why hasn't a process started? Not to long ago a member of parliament who was checking out his old looted villa was shot to death by looters of his villa. How can this unfixed city be called the Somali capital, when members of parliament can not even get back their homes forget about the rest of us.
Now moving to the North, the once irrelevant Isaaq's living in the triangle have established their own political leverage "Secession". Off course no country or organization will ever recognize these fuckers, and have not done so last 21 years, but in the course of what seemed like retarded politics they have gained ridiculous amount of political leverage, specially with the International community, and Somalis who feel sympathetic to them because of the Hargeysa bombing of 88. They will never be recognized as a country ever, and even their tribal chief Siilyaanyo knows it but that was never the real case. They have transformed themselves from being irrelevant and ignored by both Somalis and the International community and into a real political heavyweight with unique political leverage. So when they do sit down for talks since there is other option their piece of political power in Somalia is almost guaranteed.
Now on to Puntland who have compromised and given far to much for unity, Somalinimo,iyo the return of a strong Somali government back in it's capital city. Puntland has invested brains, talent, manpower iyo financial resources in the pursuit of "saving the country" and bringing back dignity to Somalia. In the creation of the first TFG Parliament Puntland even compromised with their own Darood kin, specifically the Marehan who's unmatched envy led one of the main clans of Puntland, to give them two more seats in Parliament over our own, so they would stop stalling the process. They excepted Shiek Sharif as President who was given 250mps as an opposition party leader, basically appointed into the position by the West. And an enlarged parliament of 500mps in the faith of taming the terrorists and empowering hawiye to support the government over anarchy iyo Al Shabaab. The west as foolish as they always are believed, because Shiek Sharif was "Hawiye & an Islamist" that he can bring Al Shabaab on board without the use of foreign troops, specially the thousands of Ethiopian troops once used to crashed the ICU he headed. Even the AU peacekeeping force of 5,000 than would be unnecessary as once believed. I won't go into further detail, as I believe we all now know the amount of foreign troops, including the thousands of Ethiopians used to liberate Gedo, bay, bakoo, hiiraan and many more, and the close to 20,000 AU troops used to secure Mogadishu.
In conclusion, Puntlanders have done more than their share in restoring the republic. The TFG was turned into a real government by AUN Mudane President Abduallhi Yusuf. His leadership and vision for a federal Somalia is the talk and roadmap for a brighter future. We must not let yesterday's oppositions, and looter's of our pride and joy, of a once a beautiful Somali capital hijack the initial purpose and vision of A/Y's Federal Somalia. Isaaqs have "Secession", Hawiye has Mogadishu, and Somalia has Puntland as it's political leverage for better days ahead.
