Do you train?

Post by Substance »

I'm reading alot of stuff on training right now on the Internetz. But maybe Snet have some knowledge.
I have longterm goal so Im not in hurry nor looking for quick fix(i.e) anabola and shit like that

Its should be all natural, and I will train calisthenics, (only bodyweight training), pushups, situps, chinsups and pullups.

And some running. Since I was a little boy I dreamt of having forearms like Poop Eye lol, lets make this true.
I will post the progress here and maybe some of you will join in what I do here.

Stats:
184cm
74kg

Please feel free to come with advices and I might take it if it works for me aswell.
And advices about food would be great. I quit eating garbage stuff.

Today!
2012-06-03

I run for 20 minutes. Shit was hard, im still breathless.

holy %^&%, we have the exact same stats, on the T too.

if you want to train using only your body weight, you are severely constraining the potential for your body to grow. your body can only grow so much using your own body weight. there is absolutely nothing wrong or "unnatural" about using weights/machines, thats perfectly fine. people have been training with weights since ancient history.

so what exactly is it you want to do anyway? gain muscle right? after all 74kg for your height is considered underweight...

Do you have a pool in your apartment complex. I will add regular swimming for half an hour daily on the list.

My goal is to gain some muscle and go up around 80kg in clean muscle. (long term goal).
I have some weights at home I can use, so thats no problem but Im trying to avoid machines and stuff that only limits you.
Some weeks I will use my weights others not. My body works well for this kinda of training. In the end we all do what works for ourself Right. Do you train?

No but theres a place where one can swim close to me. Great tips but half an hour daily sounds overkill?
I probably will swim twice a week or so.

I forget, no trolls plz.

funny i was actually supposed to start training today after a long break (shoulder injury), but hopefully i will start tmrw. but i used to train, 80+ kg is my ideal weight too, round 83-5. i'm actually trying to get back to my peak when i was 19.

from about 2-3 years (off and on) training experience i can give you the following golden rules:

1. Be consistent. I mean it. 3-5 days a week. If you need a break take a week off every other month, but thats it.
2. Get a gym partner to spot you, as you can lift heavier. (not sure if this applies to you)
3. Protein shakes. It helps repair muscles after tearing them during training. Perfectly natural and you will definitely see the difference.
4. REST. Probably the most important tbh. Always remember your muscles are actually growing while you rest. Rest each body part for at least 24hrs. Take 1-2 days off a week.
5. Food. This topic is too big for me to delve into one post, but I'll just say -- watch what you eat. You know what the deal is.

Thanks man. I really appreciate it.
I must give my body enough time to recover, so I will only train "heavy" three times a week and rest the others day.
Light training like running I can still do on my recovering days?

Substance , yeah thats fine. there's no golden rule on how many days to rest, just make sure your muscles get sufficient rest so they can repair properly.

Nah, it's pretty easy, especially since I have been doing it for awhile. My calves are quite big.
