Ok let me see;

Bari - That's easy. Bari means tomorrow. And what happens tomorrow? The sun rises. And where does the sun rise from? The East, Hence Bari = East

Waqooyi - Waaq a pre-islamic deity. Ooyi meaning ooy/oohi maybe? For some reason some pagan god cried in the north. Maybe they thought the red sea was his tears or something. :?

GalBeed - Gal means go inside. Beed means egg, or could be Somalinglish for Bed/Sariir. What happens in the west? The sun sets. And what happens when the sun sets? You go to bed - hence Gal-bed.

Konfur - No fcking idea.

Dhagax - Dhag, the sound made when a stone hits something. Ax is the sound you make when a stone hits you - hence dhagax.

Jareer - Jar means cut/sever. Reer is family/clan. Therefore your family severs all ties with you if you marry a jareer.

Foolxun - Fool means giving birth. Xun means bad. Therefore you are ugly because you were born like that.

Anyone who want's to join in, do so. Those who have no idea what the hell I'm on about, just assume I've taken some very potent form of weed. :up:

Sorry, my bad. You're right.

So what do they mean, literally, when they say "naagtaasi waa fool".

I have never heard Fool being used to mean face.

You say "foosha iska soo dhaq", "foosha aa ka dharbaaxa"? that sounds wrong.

Blackvelvet

you dont know somali language have gender pronunciations that can change the meaning of a word :o

Example: Beer, if you give it a femanine pronunciation it means farm in english. If you give same word a maculine pronunciation it becomes liver.
