a degree in business

Post by metamorphosis »

What do you guys think of it and does anyone here have one? So after a long heated discussion eith my dad last year over whether i should do patroleum engineering or business administration i have decided that i will do the latter. My dad isnt happy but so what. Anywho i think a degree in business is more broad and offers jobs in almost all fields. but he is thinking it is not reliable. Please give me an input on this because once i submit these papers there is no coming back. by the way did i mention i love business. :D

Too many people are doing this kind of stuff.. there isn't much demand for it anywhere.

Study something in IT or life sciences, there's a lot of growth potential in those fields..

Listen to ur dad. Business is too broad, I'm glad I opted for accounting instead.

To the OP, you can do an MBA after a degree (in any subject). Don't bother with Business degree.

ask your self what you like and enjoy. not every thing about money. what you think will benefits you and the ummah muslima. and pray salat istikhaarah. ask Allah's opinion. we always ask other and prophet taught us to pray salat for only that reason when we dont know which things is khair for us.

بَلْ تُؤْثِرُونَ الْحَيَاةَ الدُّنْيَا
Nay (behold), ye prefer the life of this world;وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ

وَالْآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَأَبْقَىٰ
But the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَفِي الصُّحُفِ الْأُولَىٰ
And this is in the Books of the earliest (Revelation),-

صُحُفِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَمُوسَىٰ
The Books of Abraham and Moses.

You should always do something you enjoy, that in mind, I feel anyone, regardless of whichever degree they've done can always go into business and not vice versa.
I don't know about you but where I am, BA is synonymous with Somalis. It would be nice if the Somali community ventured into other fields.
Bottom line though, pray istikhara. All the best in whatever field you end up in. :)

But it is the fact that it is broad that makes it desireble. :|

Aslong as you nail it, you don't have to worry about getting a job. People who are the best in their field always end up with a job
