How simple is a transition from windows based notebook to macbook air or pro.. I may have a spare 2g's and wanted to splurge on a decent hacker free, virus minimal notebook or netbook for my travels. Does apple even produce those small 7-10 inch netbooks others like dell, hp, acer have? do tell all and even recommend a model type.

If you want to try something similar to the Apple's OS, try downloading an older version of a Linux distro. The newer versions seem to be heading in a different direction.
As for transitioning from a Windows to OSX system, I think it's pretty easy. Especially if you had experience with a Linux. Apple's hardware is top of the line, but the only headaches are not being able to get your hands dirty since it's all locked up.
For a user guide, you can find tons on YouTube.
