Chronicles of Azania Part 6 - Betrayal
For my habaryar Niya and the other Azanian fans.
For the previous chapters: http://nipate.com/with-part-5-the-story ... t8391.html
The Betrayal
On the heels of their epic victory, a quiet rebellion was brewing in the Azanian army. It is said that victory has a thousand fathers and defeat is a lonely orphan. Those fathers came knocking to look for their victorious son. Unbeknowst to Taliye Abdiwahab, there were murmurs of the need for change. This originated from a faction who did not want to see the Taliye star rise and shine as he was an outsider. With the final prize, Kismayo only 150km away, the usurpers felt a victory lead by Taliye Abdiwahab would cement his grip on Azania.
During the evening, Taliye Abdiwahab met with his council who were in much happier spirits. How their fortune had changed in just a few weeks. The men were well fed, received their pay regularly and adequate supplies. Day by day, the force started resembling a organized military. They no longer had to live off the land nor set up isbaaros to gain income.
"Taliye, it is with great pleasure that I report that the Xarakada are beginning to leave Jilib." said Lt. Guhaad.
"You got to be shitting me, seriously ?" replied Patriot.
"Are you accusing me of being a liar?!" snarled Guhaad.
"Galti can't be trusted...."
Before Patriot could complete his sentence, Guhaad landed a sucker's punch which knocked Patriot off his chair. The two started wrestling each other.
Abdiwahab quickly jumped from his chair and shot into the air, stunning the men.
"You dirty nido sipping assholez ! What is the meaning of this ? You show me great disrespect by fighting. What kind of example are you setting ?"
The two men apologized profusely and sat down. Abdiwahab poured over the maps and consulted with his council. Jilib was the key to Kismayo as
whomever controls it, would control Kismayo. He was deeply suspicious that the Xarakada would abandon a strategic town easily and saw it as a trap.
Abdiwahab was very suspicious and understood Patriot's skepticism. He knew that any defeat at Jilib would jeopardize his dreams as his enemies would
use it as an excuse to deny him victory and its great bounty.
The Xarakada forces were in disarray as its leadership bolted for other regions of the country. The constant drone strikes and bombardments had hit the Xarakada's moral. Their leader, Grandpapakhalif, hardly ever ventured in public and stayed in his traditional Somali tent. His paranoia had grown worse over weeks. Many of his associates were assassinated by drones and airstrikes.
"Sheik, the Shura would like to meet with you at the masjid ? Are you available to meet?" asked his bodyguard EOMM.
"Now ?" replied a nervous Grandpapa.
"Yes, is there a problem ?" asked EOMM.
"Problem, are you implying something?" replied Grandpapa who looked very tense. His paranoia was getting to him and was having a panic attack. His clenched his sweaty palms and put on his cimamaad covering his face. As he stuck his head out of the aqaal, he peered into the sky like a chicken who is afraid of a hawk. EOMM opened the door to a vehicle but Grandpapa refused to get in based on the belief it was easier to target a car. The two walked with a group of body guards tot the village mosque. Upon entering, Grandpapa was greeted with a disturbing scene. Only half of his commanders were present. They looked ragged and emaciated like men who were on the run in the bush.
"Salam Aleykum Amir !"
"W/Salaam"
Amir, it is a great pleasure to meet again said Somalistar, Wali of Dhobley then Afmadow and now the lands between that city and Jilib. He suffered the brunt of the Azanian offensive and saw his losses mount yet he continued to feel confident that the territory could be wrestled back.
"Amir, you look well and in good spirts," said Newyorkawi, leader of the Xarakada's quick reaction force, a mobile unit of 1,500 dispatched.
Gentlemen, enough with the pleasantries ! Why are we losing ! Explain, explain ! Somalistar, tell me why you lose territory ?
"Amir, the stepped up air bombardments, coupled with the badly handed drought which turned the public against us and of course that murtad Abdiwahab have conspired against us. The way ...."
"One man, one man, bloody hell that is impossible..."
"Amir, he is a strategist. He builds alliances with the KDF and the other kuffar. He commands respect and support among his men. He is a good politician, judge and governor. He builds strong ties with the locals and gains their support. The locals supply him with intelligence and join his forces. Worst of all, he is blessed in conflict, its like some Jinn works with him. "
"Enough, enough, I want that murtad dead. Whatever it takes, kill him," yelled Grandpapa who was mouth was foaming like a rabid dog.
"Newyorkawi, get on this now ! Kill him ! " said Somalistar.
"Consider it done !" said Newyorkawi who stood up and left.
Newyorkawi was hesitant as he saw the writing on the wall. The Xarakada was on the decline and it was a matter of time before they were defeated. To survive, he needed to make a deal and his best chance was with Abdiwahab. After all, the KDF would rendition him. How would he approach Abdiwahab without arising suspicion ? Or death ? As he walked down the dusty road he went past a small kiosk run by a stout man. It then hit him.
"Salam Shiek" said the man who rose up from his chair fearful of the Xarakada's assassin master.
"Salam Hutuking01, were you not from Galgaduud ?"
"No, I have was born and raised in Marka. I moved to Jilib twenty years ago."
Newyorkawi grabbed Hutuking01, and put him a choke hold.
"Do you know Abdiwahab ?"
"No, sheik, no I don't know him."
Newyorkawi squeezed his grip, removed a 15 inch dagger and placed it on Hutuking01's neck.
The cold blade helped jolt HutuKing01's memory.
"You mean Abdi beendiid, I know him, we are friends and relatives, I have not seen him in years, what do you want to know ?"
"Go to him and pass this message on to him: Wardheer and say its from me."
He let go off Hutuking01 and walked away.

We have as much legitimacy as any other fantacy state, we have an army of 3 witch doctors with an assortment of deadly spells and potions...
We protest against this exclusion order in the narrative.
