I am impressed by the ability of the inhabitants of Daad Madheedh to grow many crops with little or no modern agricultural equipments. Imagine if a major river ran through this area, i am sure they would have made full use of it. It is time we see the rise of the fishers in Somaliland, it is odd with a large coast they are not capitalizing on the fishery industry which can generate billions of dollars yearly exports to overseas.

Sicid, Isaaqs back home need to learn how to cultivate date palms, example, do you know buurta dubar, in the saahil district a few KM north of the Sheikh road, it has huge amounts of water reserves under , even the abassid dynaysty when they came more then a thousand years ago, they built a small cememnt stream from dubar all the way to berbera, the ottomans came and they advanced it, the english and then so on. The point that i'm trying to make is that you can make a big farm just by having water reserves under, the brits came and they planted 100 date palms in dubar, most of them are dead and the trunks are on the ground, a good 20-40 of them survived, inshallah next year when i head out back home i'ma carry a few ordered already germinated seeds with me and plant them on the ground.

That is a another thing for another day young Subeer. The communities backhome should first learn how to cultivate crops in large scales especially those who settle in fertile soils and places with large underground water reserves in order to have a food security. They can't forever really on livestock which can die in drought times, we now see what is happening in northern Awdal, Saaxil and other areas. If i get back to you about the date palm growing, there is two aspects of it one is growing it for the sake of beautifying the landscape (in the case of L.A) and another is growing them in order to use it as a export industry and for native consume use (Tunisia, Saudi Arabia etc). For which purpose do you want to plant them? the first i presume.

The somali people are behind (as usual) when it comes to agricultural practice. We should invest heavily In crop and fishing industries instead of wasting money on camels and shit.
