You can always learn a language. Spend six months in somalia and you will develop a strong foundation. What makes me cringe is when people born and raised in somalia dont speak somali the proper way. I know some of my cousins in somalia who learned english the past 6 years and when they speak somali they mix somali english and even af carabi together.

The worst part is they think they are sophisticated for doing so.

I was born in canada and spoke fluent somali as well. As a kid my parents sheltered me and I stayed at home most of the time so I spoke somali like an adult. Funny thing when I started preschool I didnt know english but in less than 9 months I also spoke english fluently.

Teach your kids somali and they will automatically learn the language of any place you live by the time they start school.

Hate is such a strong word dear. We're all human, no need to use that. It's probably not even their fault. I know some who want to learn but can't due to their surroundings. They were born here, raised here, and their neighbors are non-Somalis. It's best to be understanding rather than shun them. They already feel like outcasts for not speaking the native tongue, no need to add salt to the burn for them.

sodon jir oona soomaali ku hadli karin maba jiri karaan. they would have been at least 10 years old when the war started meaning they should have basic foundations in somali. its those only qurbojoog kids that werent born nor raised in a real somali household that are excusable.

On the other hand, people think I am a FOB for some reason.

I get "aboowe wadanka maku cosobtahay".
