Macalin: I partially agree with u, as Hadrawi said b4
""Kuma galo adduunyada
Ninna goonni-socodkoo
Marwo garasho dheer baa
Ninka raga u gudinoo
Iyadaa guddoonkiyo
Gadh-hayaa naftaadiyo
Gaadiidka reerkiyo
Gurgurshaaga noqotoo
Arrin kula gorfaysee
Haddaan gaari kula jirin
Illaa noloshu guul ma leh".

There is an original tone to the songs. Not like the cover BS we have been subjected to.

Twist, let us create a somali "Motown" records to introduce these talents.

Lately I am discovering good singers, I was tired of the auto-tuned marfish singers flooding the somali music industry.

That kid got good voice, along with ahmed rasta, ahmed cegaag and few more.

Lam & Advo, exactly my thoughts.

Compare these young talents to what we have in the West (what that Somali comedian from Minneapolis call 'Wejiyo-xun') sing lately + their constant robbing & raping old Somali music.

These young singers need some investment & golaha-murtida-iyo-madadaalada-like center where they can practice & produce new Somali music as our old composers & singers are getting older & dying.

Advo, dude you've good taste in Somali music after all. I kinda pictured you as 100 % dhaqancelis but I was wrong. Yeb, Ceegaag & Rasta are some of the few good singers lately.

Twist and Adv
I was in Sweden a few months ago and they organised "somali idols"; Bashir Cali Hussein, Xabiib Sharabi and Mustafa Sheikh Cilmi were part of the jury.

The problem was that it is all covers; no creativity.

Lam, yeah I saw few of the songs from Somali idol on Youtube & was wondering what happened to it. Was there a winner or they ended it prematurely?

Two of my favorite singers were on the judging panel, Bashiir Cali Xuseen & Khaliif Cismaan Cabdi Sayid Khaliifa.

Saaxibow, I attended three. They organised about a dozen of these in several towns. I was told that they will do/did the same in other Scandnavia countries and that they will be a big ceremony to announce somali Nordic Idol 2012. We shall wait and se.

But, the problem with somali music is that there is no longer creativity. It is recyling old songs. There is no concern for intellectual property rights.

If you visit Denmark, you may find Hanuuniye (Mr. Acustic guitar) and Maxamed Salebaan, whose songs are sung by others who make money.

Advo, he sang that Hooyo song perfectly & jiriiricay igu kicisaa markaan maqlo. Reminds me hooyo (AHN).

Plus, Ceegaag can sing Banaadiri amazingly as well. Only few young singer can pull that:

@Lam, that's why I said the new talents need in gacanta lagu otherwise Somali music as we know it will die out for good.

PS: Saalim Siciid is not new. I used to hear his 'Haybad waxaad ku leedahay, dhulkaaga hooyoo, dhulkaaga hooyoo' (not the very old one but another one he sang, couldn't find it on Youtube) song from Radio Addis Ababa (or was it Radio Ethiopia? Can't remember) early 90's.

True, he started as a cover artist but I think he has also composed and recorded his own songs.

I like some of the covers too; they have brought to life almost extint songs.
