He got a year for not only disrespecting the JSL leaders but also putting our peace at risk. Advo, the courts could have found him not guilty, the President doesn't hold any powers over the courts.
How does anyone in any civilized society get sentenced for "disrespecting" especially political leaders and system which is entirely up for public criticism? Laa ilaaha ila laah good luck with your democracy.
Disgraceful and unacceptable.
There were better ways of handling this issue and this is not one of them.
this will fuel intense political problems for siilanyo.
problems that are equal to the probable problems caused by Buurmadow being free.
hint: (buurmadow would have thrown a spanner in the works for siilanyos eastern policy, there are strong rumours that he supports khatuumo)
Siilanyos plan is to keep him locked away and out of trouble while the Somaliland/Somalia talks continue, and they are expected to take at least 1 year
now if he was free he would not have gotten much support for his crazy ideas but behind bars
people will take him seriously.
Somalilands democracy is for us by us. It is one thing to talk about leaders but another when it can cause civil unrest and a thorn in the eye of Somaliland. Besides, he has violated an article in our constitution, any Somaliland leader would have done the same.
Gurey, how can you support something that doesn't exist? As we speak, Karaash is wondering where his militia is and when they will get backing, not to mention busy waiting for the next old lady to send them her benefit allowance. Galaydh is realising that his project isn't going anywhere and xaglatoosiye is collecting Silaanyos signature.
his grudge against siilanyo will make him do things that will shame his clan.
He would go to taleex and say he is bringing his clan into khatuumo.
you will see him in xamar with shariif saying that somaliland is a part of somalia and other nonesense.
This is a man that when cheated on a business deal in hargiesa and told to fok off by the authorities,
arranges his enemies to be kidnapped in the middle of hargiesa brought to sanaag and made them pay.
im sure that siilanyo wants him out of sight for at least a year,
any charges would have been made up, even if he didnt do any crime.
they would have invented some new charges .
but aren't you concerned about the failure of the rule of law?
it only takes small steps like this and you will find yourself in Syria Iraq, Saudi Arabia
or god forbid siad barres somalia!!!
We are a young nation in the poorest part of Africa where people are more aligned to their tribes and tribal leaders than they are with their country. Allowing every tom ceeb and harry of a leader to say what he wants without clear consequences being laid out by the government will result in a dangerous predicament. I dont think this is the best solution but do believe its the best option available for now.
Democracies are not established overnight, it takes time unfortunately. Id rather implement parts of a proposed democratic system at one point and improve on that over the years rather than trying to implement such alien system in the region in one go. In order to protect our interests these measures are necessary at the moment. The good in our system outweighs the flaws in my opinion, gradually we shall be able to eradicate the flaws. This comes with political maturity and the maturity of our society at large.

i think that is very common in Saudi arabia and UAE.
