You can test and find out if you are predisposed to diabetes. Eat balanced food and exercise, there is no reason to fear. It is wider phenomena in the United states and it is not confined only to a small community like somalis. Too many american kids are being diagnosed as diabetics. They can't figure out why. Weight can be a factor.
Exercising and eating balanced food helps you avoid sokorowga.

If any of our parents have diabetes chances we will have it too unless we do something about it now.
My nutrition teacher explained to me like a light switch, we have the option to turn it off or on depending on our lifestyle, exercising, healthy diet etc.

Samething I've heard from my Dr, it's all in how you handle your intake and overall physical health that plays the deciding factor.

They should take a peek at their daily diet.
Re: the diabetes endemic amongst somalis
Theirs two types of diabetes, type 2 which is curable with the right food portions and exercising daily, Type 1 is not curable, and it involves taking insulin injections, latter one is more dangerous and most likely passed down genetically.

The type of diabetes that is increasing is type-1 globally. The researchers proposed several reasons for that, processed food is one of them. No one has definite answer yet to account for the surge(it is supposed to be genetic, yet it is not in these new cases). Most diabetics are typ-2. If you want to read more on the issue, click here

Diagnosed: 18.8 million people
Undiagnosed: 7.0 million people
Prediabetes: 79 million people*
New Cases: 1.9 million new cases of diabetes are diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older in 2010

^^^ Very interesting theory there for the flare in type 1 cases.I used the data and did a linear regression on the data points starting with 1 in 1929 when insulin treatment was initiated. The curve with the best R2 score was an exponential growth curve with a half life of about 20 years. This 20 year period is pretty close to the time period between generations and I concluded that the growth was due to the fact that the people who managed to live long enough to reproduce. Thanks to insulin, we have doomed the human race to inevitable increases in Juvenile Onset Diabetes.

diabetes was invented by white man to kill all black pple. the white pple make and sell junk food very cheaply and they target this to black pple including somalis and latinos. example: kfc, mcd, taco bel, coke cola, pepsi, tim hortons. i never eat or buy products made by them companies, they are racist and they want to eliminate blacks/latinos all over the world.

Type 2 diabetes is rising among Somali communities in every where nowadays. lack of exercise + daily Halaal adhi meat play a major role in this disease.
