Tracking aid in Puntland
Amina Osman is the Head of the Aid Coordination Unit of the Puntland Ministry of Planning. She joined the newly created unit just two months ago, and explains how she hopes to make aid more targeted, strategic, and easy to track in Puntland.

The Aid Coordination Unit was created in March 2010, to coordinate and manage the aid flows- around 20 MILLION dollars in 2008 - in Puntland.

UNDP Somalia has been supporting the creation of the Unit with training on aid effectiveness and aid coordination, technical assistance of an aid coordination expert, and support in developing the structure of the unit and its work plan. This is part of UNDP Somalia’s work to help develop government and public institutions in Somalia so that they can administer core government functions more effectively and provide services to the citizens.

ONLF also received a tip from sources inside the Puntland Administration that the Ethiopian Army was tipped by Puntland Security regarding the two journalists.
