Turkish Red Crescent set up the first playground in Somali capital Mogadishu after 21 years.

First playground opened at Cezire Hayat Tent City of Red Crescent following the civil war which has been continuing in Somalia for 21 years.

The opening of the playground was made by Red Crescent Chairman Ahmet Lutfi Akar and Somali children on Monday.

with turkish flag all over the playground, I only see Propaganda photo opportunity. Many people for obvious reason can't see that, which it self is kind of heartbreaking.
whole thing cost less £100. using recycle stuff with little bit of TLC, I can produce better playground.

If you ever want to exploit Somalis, say you are Muslim and give them a few things. Somalis will get overly excited, become overly hospitable, mislead the foreigner into believing he has their love and support only for the Somalis to turn on him one day.

Greenday,

Well, why don't we throw welcome parties for the Iranians, Emiratis, Saudis, Americans, British, and of course my favorite donor nation: NORWAY, the only consistent donor to Galmudug since 1990.

I am told Sharif Ahmed and co have given the Turks large tracts of land in Xamar in the Segunda Lido. This TFG is dangerous and will sign away the nation at any given opportunity.

Remember, among nations, there are NO permanent friendships, only permanent interests.

P.S. welcome back !!! Hope you had a great time.

Green,

Good to hear that. I am very skeptical about the TFG and its ability to govern. Vast tracts of publically owned land in Segunda Lido have been given to the Turks.

Hope is a good thing but reality is important. The people of Xamar are seeing improvement in their lives but at some point they will want to see more once the situation stabilizes.

Other countries donate to civic projects and don't place 20 ft flags on play grounds and schools  The Turks are little bit ahead of themselves - they are obsessed with that red flag  It is even on ambulances and waste management vehicles
