not all of us have plans of getting married with minimum wage jobs (not that there's anything wrong with it) but I am particularly not interested in tying the not for some time to come but it seems like everyone even strangers will ask you are u married yet
I just find it odd.

Couldn't have said it better. Over the past couple years I've thought of a lot of things, and marriage was like the last shyt I thought about. aroos wax lagu dagdago ma'aha. Besides, too many divorces too fast cuz dey got married too fast. the latest record breaking divorce came just after two days of marriage here n da reason, qabiil.

It amazes me how Somalis are obsessed with marriage indeed, it's like their lives revolves around marriage iyo wax jini, if only they cared about other issues, the way they do aroos.

Marka hore wa iskuul dhamee iyo jamacad ka bax. Ka dib wa guurso. Markaad guursatidna, sheekada waxay isku beddelaysa caruur dhal. Kolkaad mid dhashid, waxaa lagu odhanayaa dhowr kale ku biiri. Deetana ada caruurtada iyo mustaqbalkooda ku mashquuli (wax barasho, guur iyo ubad aad ayeeyo/awoowe u noqotid).

somalis get married like its nothing. for some reason many believe it is the remedy for a stagnant lifestyle i.e if there is an ambition-less somali male in his mid twenties living in his parents home his family thinks that marriage will get the ball rolling for his career, starting a family, and securing a home. this can be dangerous because many of these men are uneducated and live the rest of their lives pay check to pay check.

I think it is good to get married for the right reasons i.e when you mee the person you want to be with.
it annoys me when a single mother who never worked, never studied asks me why 'm single? and not even knowing me not more than a year telling me that 'i am wasting me time'. what time i'm wasting? i wonder. I pray, i worship Allah swt, I work, i dress up, i read and travel whenever possible.
to them, im wasting my time to have children. bloody, i can have them in ten years time or never want to have them. do they know?
