Watch somali TVs later today - the city is upside down with thousands of his supporters parading in the city. They are very loud and threatening @ times. I hope it doesn't turn violent as it did before.

If elections were decided by sheer popularity, Caydiid would have been President of Somalia in 1991. But it ain't. Mr. Mahiga and his crew will select their new puppet. Farmaajo has baggage for having the audacity to challenge his protectors.

Is he in mogadishu right now?

Farmaajo is more popular that the newly adopted constitution. people know farmaajo dont have alot of money compare to the two shariffs and abdiweli who have puntland behind him, but for some reason he brings alot of energy and media attention and thats the power of regular xaliimos and faaraxs when thet get behind you.

Waryaa,

What ruling guys ? Sharif Ahmed squandered his opportunity to be a Hawiye statesman. If he did, he could have played the qabiil card effectively.

Mark my words, if Sharif Ahmed loses, he will foment violence and force his subclan to swing back to the AS.

AmirSade,

Farmaajo had a good story. Even I got hooked but he left his supporters high and dry. He even handed over power to Abdiweli, who proceeded to fock him over

Abdiwahab, even Farmaajo has asked himself that question a million times since. Abdiwali is not a bad guy, but he easily became Faroole's poodle.

rep, today is 100 folds more than yesterday. They are parading in large transport truck. Some1 must be providing, gas, posters, and other supplies.

awahab, rumor has it sharif camp is trying hard to derail the process even now and he has enough loyal army to fight if things go bad.

Guys, tell me more about Faroole/Abdiwali conspiracy. Fyi, if abdiwali doesn't get the top post he will go to Puntland and challenge Faroole. If that happens most of you will be rooting for him :)

Hawiye, Darod and D/M are all eyeing the top post and the speaker's post is wide open... Dir may claim it very easily!

Waryaa are the reports of thousands out an exaggeration? Is this orchestrated support or genuine?

I have no doubt Sharif will go the Kenyan route if he loses

The funniest quote :) "Stockholm syndrome at work in Mogadishu. They are getting closer to MSB through Framajo." One angry diaspora guy said today.

Jeidi, I don't know anything about how legit they are but they are in the thousands. A good portion of the army supports him too.

rep, sure

the people of Mogadishu have a history of watching Bollywood movies, they are easily aroused and they love theatrical performances and heroic comebacks.

the hawiye always had a attitude of: if we can`t have the presidency let marexaan have it.

as far as we are concerned, this is inconsequential and serves noting more then populist theatre
