According to the Somali Olympic committee, they are not going to seek asylum in the UK as claimed by media.

The Somali community in the UK could change the lives of ZamZam and Mohamed if they so choose. They are young and could easily be secured scholorships perhaps not even in the UK but another country where they will have the opportunity to continue to develop their lives

They have been used and abused on an international forum by greedy men who hyped them up and planted FALSE HOPE in their MINDS when they did not have a chance to succeed without training.

They have tasted the Western luxury and will soon make every attempt to perform Tahriib if they are returned home...

They can't seek asylum in the UK, since it's the host. I suggest Sweden or Norway, disappear like the Cameroonians, it's not that hard.

in EU they can not go anywhere but the host country, as soon as you enter EU and they take your finger prints and you through immigration/boarder security with your documents then there is no where else to go. If they try to go to Sweden, they will be sent back to the first place of entry (UK)

I have, and have found no such reference, and that it is actually quite common for athletes to do it in numerous athletic competitions.

Seeking asylum is a different matter altogether, requiring a person to demonstrate a claim of persecution. According to the 1951 Refugee Convention, such persecution must be well-founded because of a person’s “race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion”; that person must also be “unable or unwilling to avail himself or herself of the protection of that country, or to return there, for fear of persecution”. Claiming asylum is a high threshold to meet.

They will not claim asylum, but they can live and work illegally in Britain, or get fake working papers.
