Siad Barre's reasoning for bombing hargeisa
at the 2:53 mark in this video (part of a great documentary) he explains his reasoning for attacking waqooyi galbeed in the 80's in semi-good english. What are your thoughts on this? he was a ruthless dictator for sure but how do you think his justification stands?

The only difference between Bush and Barre was that Bush was not doing it on his own soil. Barre was too soft, if he wanted to stay in power he should have been as ruthless as Assad sr.

@grandpakalif, you're saying that he could have been more ruthless and killed more people, correct?

Hutus and Idoors complain but he was actually pretty lenient, he released his future arch nemesis General Aidiid from prison and did not take enough action against the rebels and their sympathizers.herndonhomer wrote:@grandpakalif, you're saying that he could have been more ruthless and killed more people, correct?

If anything this video proves the attrocities the hawiye committed against the innocent civilians. somalidu waxay tidha nabsigu hadaad afka qabato dhabarkuu ka dilaaca. They asked for the removal of barre and when they got it they still couldnt work things out.

the SNM unlike the FSA did not rely on qatar and america to give them weapons, the mujahids who defended their people from the SNA, Succesfully liberating all major northern cities.

Did you forget the 9 years from 1979-1988 that the SNM received, technical and logistical support from Ethiopia and Libya. Nigga gtfo. Fuck the SNM what did they achieve a fake state that fragmented the country's north and started tribal state nonsense. Wallahi If I was Siyad Barre I would use scorch earth policy to eliminate the scum.

Fact is when the SNM was heading for its last battle, it wasn't even met, before they reached Hargeisa the remaining SNA soldiers and generals flee'd.
