Somaliland regional emblems

Let me start with a emblem is a symbol that can represent certain things including a region or a state. For example California state of America's emblem is a grizzly bear as this state was known for having many grizzly bears in 20th century even though they are now extinct in the area and are found in Alaska state instead due to early settlers of the area killing them.

Similarity when the British came to the Oodweyne/Gacanlibaax/Cadaadley areas they came across wild lions but unfortunately they are now almost extinct in the wild due to previous game range hunting by European explorers. Lions in Somaliland are now found mainly only in Somaliland zooz namely New Hargeysa zoo, in rare causes lions were seen in the wild in Garoodi/Salahley a year back and it is believed a few of them still exist in the wild of Somaliland. A region can have several emblems representing things it is known for and a main emblem.

Gabiley region emblem:It has both historical and present meaning, it was one of the earliest regions where farming was practised. Region emblem being a corn standing for Gabiley being a farming region.

Oodweyne region emblem: It has also both historical and present meaning, large bushes are many in the region, the name itself "Oodweyne" means the place with the large bushes. The lion in the middle of the bush represents the lions the explorers killed in the area which is now believed to be near extinct in the wild.
