Firstly, I am my own man. I don't follow/support any group blindly. Secondly, alshabab are only regurgitating past ulema like Imam Shafici and Imam AHmed ibn Hanbal who also held the same view. It is not like they made this up from thin air. Sheikh Umal also says it is halal. (Imam Abu Hanifa opposed it). Thirdly, there are many other halal things like muscagalay and other creatures which Arab may eat- I don't expect people to start eating lizards in Somalia because some ulema from the past said it is xalal. It's just not part our culture and It doesn't make us any less Muslims. Alxamdulilah, hilib geel, lamb and goat meat has sufficed for thousands of years. Lastly, if, as Somalistar, claims that this ritual was brought on by famine hunger and starvation, that is a different story altogether and something for all of us to think about.?
