Police launched a murder hunt today after a young man was stabbed to death in a busy London street.
Police are appealing to the public for information following the fatal stabbing of a 24-year-old man in SW16.
Officers were called at approximately 19.15hrs on Tuesday, 21 August to reports of a man stabbed in Gleneldon Mews, SW16.
Police and London Ambulance Service attended and discovered a man suffering wounds to the neck. He was treated but pronounced dead at the scene at 20.20hrs.
The victim, who is of Somali origin, has been identified as 24 year old Hanad Osman.
A post-mortem examination will take place at Greenwich mortuary on a date yet to be confirmed.
The deceased was found to the rear of a property in Gleneldon Mews and a number of people are known to have been in the vicinity.
Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command are keen to speak with those people and also members of the Somali community who may have information about the incident and the victim.
An incident room has opened under Detective Chief Inspector Charles King, who said: "At this early stage we do not believe this man had any gang links and we retain an open mind regarding the motive for this attack.
"Clearly, he was the victim of a brutal assault and I would urge anyone with any information that may assist my officers to come forward. I can assure you that you will be treated with the utmost discretion."
