rainfall from as far afield as Burco and Erigabo flows into seasonal rivers into the Nugaal from the north and west.
we must develop ways to harness this blessed resource to make us a food producing region.

Most of the water that falls in the Nugaal/Togd basin is actually received by Burco and mountainous areas of Erigavo at 300-500 mm annual rainfall.
While the Nugaal/Togd drainage basin areas in Sool and Nugaal region receive 100-150 mm annual rainfall which is classified as fully arid. Sool is suitable for
oasis farming but not extensive agriculture like Burco region and mountainous areas of Erigavo.

If that were true, then it would be one of the few instances of water flowing uphill on planet Earth.
The nugaal is well below the land west and north of it. rainfall from land at a higher elevation will almost always flow to land at lower elevations.
That is why 99% of rivers flow into the sea.

Yes but the areas of Burco region that receive that kind of rainfall along with the mountainous Erigavo areas are not solely lowlands, they have
natural/modern dams and seasonal rivers/valleys like Togdheer seasonal and Medeshi valley which are confined to the said regions. Thus that minimizes
the outflow of water from the regions that receive high rainfall to the more arid lowlands. It is one of the reasons why Sool is suitable for Oasis farming while
Sorghum and other crops are grown extensively in Togdheer/Oodweyne.

There's no such thing as Khaatumo. The 18 administrative regions created by the Somali government after independence ayaa weli lagu socdaa. Even S-land and Puntland ayaa weli ku socda. So my question is.. ma jeebkaad kale soo baxdeen khaatumo?Substance wrote:Khaatumo looks good.Mashallah.

Im not reer khatumo. I call them that because thats what they want to be called, it may not be officiall but i'm not gonna ignore the reality on the ground. Same goes for Somaliland and Puntland.MeyleSamaale wrote:There's no such thing as Khaatumo. The 18 administrative regions created by the Somali government after independence ayaa weli lagu socdaa.
