This date is kind of special in Somali politics. It happens to be the date when Mohamed Ali Samatar stepped down as prime minister in 1990. It also happens to be the date when Morgan declared "Jubbaland" autonomous from Mogadishu with Kismayo as its capital. Of course that didn't materialize and he fled the port city after losing to an alliance of other local clans only a year later.
