Possible Long Conflict In Kismaayo
Thanks To Kenyan Militairy Spokesman Emmanuel San Balaaran
African Union troops in Somalia have killed 42 Al-Shabaab militias and injured scores of others.
Kenya Defence Forces spokesman Emmanuel Chirchir said several others escaped with injuries after they attacked Algibah near the port city of Kismayu.
Major Chirchir said four Al-Shabaab technical vehicles, one water bowser, one lorry and supplies were also destroyed in the process.
Clan resists
He said Al-Shabaab had called on women in Kismayu to provide their fighters with food and water as they battle Amisom troops but some women refused.
“As Amisom troops surround Kismayu, Marehan clans vowed to resist and fight alongside Al-Shabaab but the rest of the clans have welcomed the troops to free the area of the militia,” Mjr Chirchir said.On Tuesday, Amisom edged closer to seizing Kismayu after the capture of Marka, the third largest port in southern Somalia. The forces pushed the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Shabaab out of the town, which has been one of militants’ key havens since 2008.

How true is this statement?“As Amisom troops surround Kismayu, Marehan clans vowed to resist and fight alongside Al-Shabaab but the rest of the clans have welcomed the troops to free the area of the militia,” Mjr Chirchir said.

Re: Possible Long Conflict In Kismaayo
What is new?? Once again Marehan specifically finger pointed by a foreign power.
Even more imperative why a Marehan must be successful in this Presidential Elections.
Wallahi I do not see a long-term peaceful resolution if the Kenyan dares to antagonize us. We saw the Gaalo Madoow, we saw the British, we see the Italians, I doubt Kenyan Chirchir knows what he is getting into.

Re: Possible Long Conflict In Kismaayo
The only reason why a conflict in Kismaayo would be prolonged is because the Shabaab have amassed there resources there after vacating the Benadir region not because of the

Re: Possible Long Conflict In Kismaayo
Remember when everyone was laughing at Al shabab for vacating, Beledweyne, Xamar and Baidoia. Well guess where all their logistics and personnel are concentrated in. And then tell me where the capability and morale of Kenyan forces are. Then tell me which city's civilians are most sympathetic to their cause.

The force with the advantage is clear.
