For the Iranian public's consumption:

''Bahrain'' in place of ''Syria'' and ''Islamic Awakening'' in place of 'Arab Spring'' amongst other changes.

''In stark and deliberate distortion of Morsi’s speech, the Official Iranian TV deleted the four Caliphs when Morsi started his speech by offering prayers to the Prophet Mohamed (PBUH), his companions and the four righteous caliphs Abu Bakr, Omar, Othman and Ali.

Iranian media also confirmed that the official Iranian TV manipulated the speeches delivered by United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon and UN General Assembly President Nasser Abdul Aziz on the Syrian crisis.

Posts on social media denounced the deliberate distortion of the speech of the Egyptian president by the Iranian official TV saying that these acts may create tension between both countries and exacerbate the religious split between Shiites and Sunnis.''

I was laughing at how the translator did it on the spot.

Bahrain wants Iran apology over speech translation

Bahrain has demanded an apology from Iran after an official interpreter reportedly replaced the word "Syria" with "Bahrain" in a speech by Egypt's president at the opening of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran. The foreign ministry in Manama on Saturday filed an "official protest memorandum" with Tehran's charge d'affaires over the "misrepresentation made by Iranian State Television" during President Mohamed Morsi's speech on Thursday. Bahrain "requested the Iranian government apologise for this act, and take the necessary action to correct the breach and ensure that actions like this one don?t happen again," the ministry's demarche said, according to a statement.

Some people have their priority mixed up. This man is nothing more than Mubarak 2.0. Nothing has changed in Egypt, if anything the situation has worsened. I wouldn’t surprised if USA/GCC countries told him to say this so they can approve the 4.8 billion dollar loan Egypt needs urgently, while Iran has a health trade/budget surplus. :D

The Iranian gov. simply wants it's people to believe that the Iranian narrative doesn't conflict with the 'Arab revolution'.

How is that different from the way American networks like CNN and Fox try to fashion the public's perception of what goes around outside their country?

Media is always somebody's tool.

I didn't argue the opposite; every gov. lies to it's people. This one is just too blatant, it hurts.

I also think that the Iranian public is way more informed and smarter than the American one.

This one reminds me of how Ahmadinejad's speech was also distorted to mean 'Israel must be wiped off the map'.
