i wonder why somali people get so freaked out about interracial marriage/dating. i dont wanna overgeneralize but somali women who marry outside of the group are usually dogged out—especially by the men. every one hangs their head and mourns the loss of yet another innocent sentry of our beloved culture.

personally, i think somali men want the women to keep marrying them so they can get away with shit. the power dynamic of the traditional somali home definitely benefits the men. the father is in charge, no questions asked. and the mom takes care of all the domestic stuff, the girl helps. the guy rots his brain w/ video games/basketball/girls. the girl is pressured to go to college, get married, be responsible, stay chaste. the guy is told to stay out of trouble. got to school, get your feet off the couch, and please, don’t impregnate anyone. he’s not challenged at all. in the end, he’ll want a family just like his dad had. unchallenging, conventional, and comfortable—with a sweet somali girl that’ll stay by his side through all his crap.

There are plenty of educated, respectful, and responsible Somali guys out there. I just can't see myself marrying a non-Somali. The worst Somali is better than the best non-Somali in my view, especially, when it comes to marriage. When the marriage faces some few problems, arguments, and challenges, you don't have to worry about cultural barriers. God Bless our Somali men (Even thou i could hate them sometimes). There is the good, bad, and the ugly in every group of people. I could only tolerate the Somalis.
