So i finally admitted to myself that my real estate dream is no longer viable. I have always wanted to start my own business and seeing that real estate is out of the picture i have been thinking more lately. I have now turned my attention to fashion and i thought to myself cloth are always needed and will never be abandoned because people dont run around naked. On top of that i can actually afford the funding for this type of business. If find myself a reliable wholesale supplier and deliver a quality product to customers..i think it will be fruitful. What do you guys think? I know theres competiton but that isnt the problem. Also what would be a better platform? Selling it in store that i rent or selling it online or a mix of both? Please tell me what you think?

Plan B. Selling international minutes where i will buy a good chunk of international minutes from a carier and sell it for profit to customers. For example each individual minute would probably cost me 5cents or less and i will sell it for anywhere between 20 to 50 cents depending on the destination of the call. there are alot of somalians who call back home alot so this could be fruitful as well. I am not trying to limit myself to the somali customers only though. Anyways what do you think of this one? Do you know anyone who does or did either of this businesses?

I am not good at business but the first idea sounds good to me.
what about importing goods and clothes to Ogaden? but I think reer Kismayo have more money. do not sit in a shop here in London. DO your business alongside other things. I think that you should focus on your career too.

Good luck walalo.

if you want to be rich metamorphosis, learn how to build companies and how to sell them to large conglomerations because that is more sophisticated and profitable then the primitive middleman merchant that you want.

start small like websites, corner shops etc etc

property development is always a good place to make money, if you can buy a house cheap renovate it and sell it on, you can do this as a group investment while each person holds equity of that property and when you make money everybody gets their share

you can buy a house for $20 grand in the US and Europe(spaine, greece, UK, Nevada, Florida, Michigan, Colorado and washington DC) nowadays if you really look good

the housing market has never been so good then the time that we are living in you can get mansions on the pennies, foking glorious financial crisis, long live wallstreet

great company to invest in with huge collection of brands and since there will be large chunck of the world population going to be relegated to poverty its has great future

Sorry I could not help my self I had to mention caanoboore

I wouldn't advise fashion business. In addition to local (online, off-price retailers) competition, there's fierce international competition from giant Internet-based businesses like aliexpress and dhgate.

I also wouldn't advise selling international minutes, as the industry is moving to a flat-rate $10-$20/month talk all you want (including international).

Instead, explore the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, both). If you can manage to invent (you can hire techies, modders, etc) a portable device (or few devices) that's affordable and suitable for Somalia, register the patent, order the parts from Asia (China, Taiwan, Malaysia, etc) and assemble it in Somalia. You don't necessarily have to market it in Somalia, as there are many countries where your product can be in high demand.

One example of the product I'm talking about is, the ReadySet Solar Charger:

The ReadySet is a flexible device. You can even use a bike (in addition to solar and grid) to charge it (takes about 1hr).

Definitely, Somali businessmen should explore this sector. They don't even have to be tech-oriented, although it helps.
