Somalia: the most presidents in africa

Post by herndonhomer »

I'm not 100% sure about this, but i think somalia has had the most presidents in africa since independence. I saw a few people tweet about that as if it was something to be proud of. nothing to be proud of, just means instability.

Siyaad barre was a dictator if you are going to separate things, he does not belong on a list with Adan iyo Abdirashidm.

its something to be proud of. its a sign of progress and democracy.

2012-1960 = 52 years. If we are to assume a presidential term is 4 years, then we should have had 13 presidents, at the most. Since 1960, America has had 11 presidents. With the possibility of a 12th very soon.

If we're not counting dictators, then Africa as a whole has had about 7 presidents in the last 50 years.

Internationally recognized*...

Essentially, the only difference between a warlord and a dictator is that one is successful in seizing power.

Okay, illiterate Somali's here's the definition of a President

the highest executive officer of a modern republic

No where in there does it say that they have to be elected or anything like that. Siyaad was the last real President of Somalia.
