This is the worst news as they will now become 5th column and cause havoc on a level unseen before, its one thing fightin an enemy u can spot its entirely a different ball arena when u are unable to do so. I was afraid this would happen.

Yaaaaaaaaaay!! Alhamdulilah, wallahi when I read I was so happy for Reer Kismaayo! Finally they can exhale and breathe in ease!

Advo,

Please go and live in Shabaab areas. Waa ciyaalka oo drugada cab jiraay oo cimaamad loo xeeray. What's wrong with you? They have no grasp of islamic laws and their leaders are virgins hidden in towers. I can't believe we have to discredit Alshabaab 2012! They had enough chance to prove their sanity, but we all know there's no sanity in the insanity of ex-ciyaal alkool. Kuwaas weey ku dayeen.

Veiled ask urself an honest question, where do u think they will go now? Home? They are not simply gonna vanish into thin air. Fighting shabaab head to head was the best chance @ defeating them completely but now they resorting to 100 pecent guerilla warfare posing as plain clothes civilians with absolutely no indication of their operational headquarters. I would be worried more now than before the tactical mass exodus.

I agree, but they are killers advo, and this should show you what scumbags they are. In my life I've never heard of Muslims who don't talk to non-Muslims let alone other Muslims? They are power hungry and having lost are killing people. However, if the people carry on, if the people work for peace, the shabaab will lose legitimacy. Sooner or later they will succumb to pressure, hopefully sooner rather than later. Ilahay haa naga qabto kuwaan. They are very sick.

I don't think all of them subscribe to the same hardline ideology thou, there still are some sincere albeit weak elements in the organization that can be reached out to. The only way I can see shabaab being defeated is to keep the military pressure on them at the same time extending an olive branch to the sensible. We need the check and balances between seculars and Islamist in the central government.

This is an exact repeat of 2006 when ICU/AS retreated from all cities and carried out daily hit and run attacks. Guerilla tactics are deadly, the only way to stop this conflict is through talks. No bushmen can solve this.

That's what Western analysts and strategists said recently.

Al-Shabaab have been preparing for years. They are in this for the long haul. They aren't going to negotiate, just like the Taliban. Anyone who thinks they can be defeated or there's a military solution is completely deluded. The sole superpower along with dozens of coalition partners, military power and budget that dwarfs the one of Somalia-- failed to subdue the Taliban. Afghanistan has been through what Somalia is now starting to undergo. If you want to see where Somalia is headed a few-several years from now, look no further than Afghanistan. Afghanistan itself is headed towards a future where foreign troops leave and the Taliban come back to power. I know some would say the population supports the Taliban, while al-Shabaab are hated-- but that's what Karzai and his supporters used to say, that the population hates the Taliban.
