Somaliland to adopt Eritrean diaspora alike tax scheme
It is about to become a mandatory for all those Somalilanders living in the diaspora sending money to back home through money remittance xawalaads to be charged $.
The money collected then will be used for development purpose in Somaliland.

Re: Somaliland to adopt Eritrean diaspora alike tax scheme
Ridiculousness... If I was a Somalilander I would never pay. The Somaliland government already gets economic aid, where's the aid?

Re: Somaliland to adopt Eritrean diaspora alike tax scheme
Somalilanders are not just going to pay, they have to see results in the event of this scheme going to action. There is approximately hundreds of thousands of Somalilanders
in the diaspora. Alot of them use money remittance xawalaads to aid the motherland since Somaliland doesn't have much access to what would be available to a recognized
country, so it is essential to monitor how this latest tax scheme $ will be used in developments and not just blindly following it.

Reer Somaliland are already building over 80 km road infrastructures connecting two countries and other road infrastructures that expand over 160 km across the country
without government assistance.Visualize what can be achieved with a more devoted prepared diaspora? The possibilities are endless.

Thats robbery, pure and simple, isn't enough for these pepole that the diaspora sends million and millions?? now we have to pay taxes on top of the 5% of dahabsiil??? what the fuck..
Taxes to help their asses , cut them off, how can this sick people ask us to pay taxes on a charity we pay them every month???? this is the sickest money grab scheme i have ever heared in my life, absolut sicknes, isnt enough for them robbing somalilanders at Hargaysa and Berbera airport charging $60??? Now they are going to tax people outside somaliland.? what a fucken sick , anybody who support this schem is naive, Dahabshiil and all of these fucken Xalaawas don't pay a cent in taxes , all the money exchangers who manipulate the somaliland shilling daily don't pay taxes. all the rich that funnel their money outsiude somaliland don't shit in taxes, so people outside somaliland have to pay
1-taxes for Somaliland goverment
2- % for Xawaalas
3- monthly weelfare rimittence so they can chew qaad and talk qabiil.
I say cut them off..enough is enough.

Re: Somaliland to adopt Eritrean diaspora alike tax scheme
Certain group of individuals have benefitted from this Somaliland project. They, along their immediate families became rich over the past 21 years. Majority of the people in Burco, Hergeiasa, Berbera are very poor. The diaspora construct homes in competing against one another who has the most beautiful home, but none would dare to go back and live in the very homes they have build with the Welfare money or Taxi income they've received from the Foreign nations they're living in.
The same can be said about the many men that were competing for the Presidency of Somalia in Mogadishu. They were racing towards pocketing International Community funds and enriching themselves and their families. The Somalis we knew prior to the Civil War are finished. Today, Somalis, regardless of clan or political ideology, all have one thing in common and that's using the Tribal-Card or Political-Card, in enriching themselves and their immediate family members.

Great initiative. Hopefully the money sent back will actually go to building infrastructure and not in to some douche's pockets.

Can u imagine how great it would be if just a dollar per transaction was added just to benefit the community, without any corruption of it?

Remittance money sent back home is big business. With an idea like yours, we'd be talking in the hundreds of millions annually. If the xawaalads were equiped with a system that would facilitate this process, then send the collected funds to each region it's intended for, a lot could be done with it. Anything from improving the quality of healthcare in local populations, to the construction & maintenance of public infrastructure, building of schools, funding for orphanages, funding for women & children health, policing, salaries for local civil servants, etc. We could virtually reach a point where we could turn away international hand-outs. The money is always there, it's always mismanaged.Tuushi wrote:Can u imagine how great it would be if just a dollar per transaction was added just to benefit the community, without any corruption of it?

Yeah. I understand. It would be too perfect of a system.Anarchist wrote:Remittance money sent back home is big business. With an idea like yours, we'd be talking in the hundreds of millions annually. So much could get accomplished and many would have added that extra dollar with a smile.
