Can you imagine folks, a school over 40000 souls or university with 40000000 students!!! Only in India.
world? It is in India,
has over 39,000 students and 2500 teachers
It's a Montessori school in Lucknow, India, the capital of Uttar Pradesh has entered the Guinness Book of Records 2013
From the school website http://www.cmseducation.org
In one of the most populous countries in the world, where education is accessible to all, there has been one of the most promising record: the school with the largest number of students in the world is located in the city of Lucknow, the capital of the state of ' Uttar Pradesh, India. At the time of measurement of Guinness in the school year 2010-2011, there were 39,437 students, 2,500 teachers, a thousand classes. But today, coinciding with the arrival in the great book of world records, the CMS (City Montessori School) has already declared more than 45 thousand students and promises continued growth.
ORIGINS - The institute, which incorporates at least in part the philosophy of Maria Montessori inspired by its methods, was born from the idea of a man Jagdish Gandhi , born in a humble village in the countryside of Uttar Pradesh, the most populous northern state of India, bordering the capital Delhi. It is famous for its countryside, the river Ganges flowing through it and to hold the place of worship known to the western world, the sacred city of Varanasi. For Gandhi, the Mahatma and his namesake is inspired by its values, it all started in 1959 with only 300 rupees borrowed (equivalent today to just over € 4) and 5 students. Jagdish today is considered a true guru in teaching Indian and is cited for his pacifist principles and its educational project. States to follow the Gandhian principle of "Jai Jagat", combining faith and globalization, and the same school prides itself on being multi.religiosa: even the morning prayers, recited by all students, can be chosen depending on the religion professed by members.
SCHOOL TODAY - Today the school has exceeded 40 thousand students, ranging from 2 years of age (pre-school programs popular in private schools in India) to 17, covering the entire span of training prior to college. It has 20 different campuses scattered around the capital Lucknow, where he divided his classes over a thousand, with an average of 45 students each. Like any self-respecting Indian Institute, has its own cricket team that competes at the national level. Although, allow coaches to find the samples between 45 thousand members need to do a lot of tournaments interiors, in which classes will compete against each other. Because of the number of members, however, it is not possible for several years to institute global assemblies, because there is a space within the school to hold all the students together. The CMS has a cost ranging from one thousand rupees (about 14 euro) per month for the smallest to 2500 rupees (36 euro) for those attending high school: prohibitive to the poorer classes of India, whose salaries often amount just double the monthly fee. Like all other private schools in India, is the rule of the uniform and the use of shoes, a luxury good also for many rural residents.
SCHOOL RECORD - In the page that hosts the 2013 Guinness record of the Indian school, we collect other goals too strange but true that relate to education: for example, there is a lady, Wilma Williams, who between 1933 and 1943 he attended 265 different schools, to follow the work of parents around the world. While Kenya comes from the person who started school at the age most advanced: it was 2004 and was 84 years old when he sat at desks in the first grade. The largest university in the world, however, is always in India, not far from Uttar Pradesh: the Indira Gandhi National Open University, south of the capital Delhi, beginning of the year and has recorded 4 million students enrolled in its courses .
