Ha la joojiyo gumeeysiga gabdhaha/dumarka Somaliyeed.

Post by Enlightened~Sista »

a tough childhood full of toil, gudniin, later marriage and the reopening with mindi on her wedding night and during the entire course of the marriage they have to put up with unappreciative, ungrateful, abusive cold hearted men like the actor in the video. Masakiin wallahi.

E_sister,

May be they operate it to reopen the stitches the same way that they did it in the first place. That is my understanding of the issue even though I never heard mindi being used.

no, there are no Doctors, but do not forget we have traditional doctors....even islaanta wax gudaaa is an expert on the issue. She knowns what to do and not to do.

In places like Sudan and Egypty that might be the case, but with somali tradition it is done because they think it must be carried out for religios reasons. Yes, I know it is wrong but that is what they think. They would say hadan lagu gudin tukan kari maysid and this has to be done before your puperty. I remember my grandmother telling me ' ayeeyo, tukan kari meysid hadaanan ku gudin'.......I said to her ' ayeeyo aniga hey qalin.

so let is stop the bultsih or it is for faraxs.

What a miserable life Somali women lead back home. I never knew one could be a black person and have wrinkles while still in your twenties; untill I saw my cousins. The tough life, never ending work, never ending pregnancies, bad diets has completely altered their looks...they looked so old I was shocked.

I remember you once saying we need to preserve our culture and traditions...do you still agree with this?

p.s. I believe we have one of the worst cultures and If I had a choice to abolish these cultural practices I wouldn't hesistate

Let's not kid ourselves here ladies. It's the women who insist on carrying out this archaic practice just so they can remain in touch with 'custom'. I have seen a lot of families where the husbands explicitly and loudly told their wives to not even think of doing such things to their daughters, the wives still found a way and operated on their girls when they husbands weren't around. Not to mention, it is women who physically perform this shyt with their own hands. Maybe you should preach to them and hope your lecture is heeded because quite frankly, it is, as you said, very primitive.

This topic is more about ending the abusive treatment meted out to women as shown in the video..less about gudniin.

Somalis as a group talk to each other in a harsh and rude manner. Even the husband and the wife can't use sweet words when having a conversation.

In all honesty Somali women along with Afghani women have one hell of a crazy chauvinistic bastards to deal with on avg.
