Lions are not as courageous as people believe they are..a lion would be sacred of a dog if it act intimidating. Lions rarely hunt by themselves they wouldn't have much of success. A tiger is whole another story u can't scape from that thing.!

I agree about them not being as courageous as people say they are, but are you kidding a dog scaring a lion maandeq they hunt together because the more the numbers the higher the chance of getting their meal.
True you can't escape a tiger, I believe if leopards were the same size as lions/tigers they would be unstoppable those guys are pure evil.

substance, you answered what researchers couldn't after many years of study. Many factors need to be included like: age of lion/tiger, where would the fight take place (african savannah or asian jungle), species of tiger (bengal or siberian)

and besides tigers might be heavier but lions are more used to fighting (with hyenas and crocs/rhinos etc) whereas tigers have no foes to fight.
