These guys are teenagers in their first few days of combat. You would also be panicking just as much with the ground shaking under you, slight deafness, BP skyrocketing, blood flowing away from your extremities, dry mouth, nervousness etc.

After a few weeks, they will get used to it.

The problem with a lot of units posted to Iraq/Afghanistan is that some don't have any seasoned officers who have years of combat experience. That officer can make the difference and provide leadership in moments of crisis.

I never blame soldiers but the politicians. Soldiers all over the world go to war based on the decisions of politicians. I blame Bush for going into an unnecessary war but not the poor 18yr old kid who signed up.

I agree with you totally there AW.Laakiin them soldiers do have a choice they are not conscripted.When those politicians are making statements such as that made by Kissinger "military men were dumb, stupid animals to be used as pawns for foreign policy." They should make an informed decision
