If we look closely at the psychology of our people, as a whole how would we fair on the pychological scale? I really want to know. There was a famous test done on the characteristics of corporations, and it yielded interesting results. They came to the conclusion that corporations have the traits of socio-path. What interests me, taking a step back from our subjective views of the current somali pyche, is how our people fair.
What got me thinking is how we have "glorified" and "identified" with the leaders of criminal entriprises, better known as warlords. It is most similar to me like how drug or gang leaders, give a small percentage of their profits to the community, and thereby earning their loyalty. But no one can argue that drug dealers and gang leaders are good for the community.
*note- let us not get into my warlord is better than your warlord, let's not even name warlords, but simply examine the relationships of the people to the warlords.

Re: Are Somalis the victims of Domestic Violence?
1. The study was based on CEOs, not corporations.
2. Not all drug dealers are "benevolent" like Escobar. And in what ways do gang activity benefit the communities they operate in? :s
3. This thread has nothing to do w/ domestic violence.

Interesting thread! It will take a lot more than dozen responses from snet to come to a valid conclusion.

Walord crime=/= domestic violence. That would be the Somali guy killing his son-in-law, or the more common couple-slapping contests.

Re: Are Somalis the victims of Domestic Violence?
I was being liberal in the term Domestic Violence to draw the image of family abuse in a macro-scale. Domestic in the sense that it is within Somalia, and the violence is being perpetrated on Somalis by Somalis, also looking at it clan wise a smaller scale at the national level, Warlords are probably the most harmful to their own qabils.
Lillahiya, 1. you are partialy right, there has been studies done on CEO's that have yielded such results, and Corporations looked at as a "person" by their legal definition.
2. I didn't say they are all benovelent, nor did I say gang activity is benificial to communities.
3. answered above
Meta, indeed, I hope by examing this, we can better understand our people.
