Syria's increasingly powerful Islamist rebel factions have rejected the country's new Western-backed opposition coalition and unilaterally declared an Islamic state in the key battleground of Aleppo.
The move highlights the struggle over the direction of the rebellion at a time when the opposition is trying to gain the West's trust and secure a flow of weapon to fight the regime.

win for assad
Re: Syrias fighters reject Western-backed opposition
This is good. Now, Iran can mediate between the Islamic faction and the Government to further facilitate a resolution where it will ensure Assad's save exit, along with his family out of power and turning Syria into a 100% Islamic state like Iran. If this is the only way to stop the bloodshed and bring back stability and peace in the country, why not go for it.

Propaganda by Syria's Assad regime, the main Islamist group At-Tawhid Brigade has denied these rumours.

If its true, then the alqeada linked mujaahideen groupsmade hasty decision. They should wait with this until the thaghut regime has been destroyed.

Embarrassing for west. But on the other hand they will support anyone that will fight against Assad. Even elements of alqaida.
