Why are, then, people surprised that Darods have dominated the affairs of Jubbaland in the last 20 years, and that Darod was the principal clan engaged by IGAD to form an administration for Jubbaland?Of the Somali tribes the Marehan, Ogaden, and Herti are most strongly represented in Juba-land.
Where does this idea that others are majority but less armed come from?
I think USC revolution in 1991 bred a temporary sense of hubris and a reconfiguration of the psychological understanding of Somalia that many non-Darod have and as we get out of civil war, start stabilizing, and the civil war and temporary uprisings are considered behind us---the false narratives and sense of misconceptions about the reality vis-a-vis honorable claim and dishonorable claim will come to be sorted.
It already seems to be sorting when the reality is observed and the USC line is shown to be stopped, in a southernly direction, at maximum after the Lower Shabelle and at minimum the before the border of Lower Shabelle.
I think this explains why so many Hawiye seem to be frusterated and view themselves powerless nowadays politically anywhere south of Afgooye and with the political legitimacy over the plains of Lower Shabelle to be the probably the biggest political war yet to be played out---between Hawiye and Digle and Mirifle.
