Re: Somalis and their fear of dogs lol
I think your younger bro was chased by a dog when he was young. Or it could be as young kids--we are told it is haram to be touched by dogs in our dhuksis. So I guess given that we are religious foe--sh!t happens.

Waallahay Somali are so scare of dog but I never realize why. In Muqdisho we had a dog and when we move to Italy my neighbor had a dog I use to play with and when we moved to America and I got older, I bough a dog. I had him for 5 years before I sold him. Very loyal animal, I like that.

Re: Somalis and their fear of dogs lol
Well, it depends on your knowledge of Islam. Somalis usually follow Islam by word of mouth, as opposed to studying and learning every day.Maybe the Sudanese and the north Africa have more Islam knowledge than us. Knowledge is power. Ignorance is fear. Word of mouth, is what gave Malis qabil. Qabil was not transferred down to us by archaic literature or written on caves. Word of mouth, must have been responsible for the dog-phobia. Maybe---the original fear was based from getting rabies, a bite from a dog will give u a rabies. So every parent delivered the fear gene.

No the Sudanese don't have more knowledge than us,it's just that they follow a different madhab.According to their madhab dogs are not haram to touch
Whereas according to Shafi'i madhab they're .It's just like according to Hanafi madhab you can touch a woman while in the state of ablution without braking it while according to Shafi'i you can't without braking it.It has nothing to do with having more knowledge

Well just to let you know Somalis do keep dogs, they're just not cuddly with them as in the west. They use the more like working dogs like Aidha said as gurd dogs in the cities and hunting dogs in the miyi/baddiiye
