There is rumors circulating around the Somaliland media websites that Salebaan Dogox (Arap) might be the next mayor after 11 local council MPs of the Umadda,
WADANI and UCID parties + 4 Arap MPs from Xaqsoor could back him for the Mayorship.

If this turns out to be true this could be the first time an Arap individual becomes the mayor of Hargeysa.

i feel that this is an attempt to calm down the noble arab clan and make them forget about the musuqmaasuq. i believe kulmiye wadani and ucid are in cahoots as they would like to keep the status quo and exclude Hassan ciise jaamac especially as HJ and Hassan ciise have some history.

Although Arab is long overdue to have a mayor from their clan as they are one of the true and original hargeisawis.

Rightwing, apparently during the first SL administration, Tuur AUN temporaraily left the internal SL duties to Hassan Ciise as he was the VP. As you know Sl had a clan problem resulting in the Garxajis vs Maryalool fights. Prior to that Hassan a reason to (cant remeber now, will tell you later) to arrest some figures that make the base of Kulmiye, including Mujahid ina Kaahin. He was kept in a cell for 2 weeks and released. This was one of the early signs of the sokeeye wars. If you match the current makeup of the kulmiye govt to those of the maryalool figures of the 90s it is identical, though HJ and siilanyo were kept in the dark by egal, and anyone knows that siilanyo who aimed high in the political scene could not dislodge tuur in the early 90s and egal in the mid 90s. The reason you see some garxajis in the kulmiye faction is that they represent the maryalool alliance, for example cabdi aw daahir, the agriculture minister. After Egals death, there was the chance for HJ to finally have representation and used the Garadag conference to hash out a plan. You know that one clan cannot achive presidency so they allied with SM to achieve victory over a now divided garxajis.

The current political climate is just an extention of the wars instead being fought through the ballot box. there is no true democracy in SL or somalia for that matter. Parties are mainly formed along clan lines, with the other being self interest, for example dhoolayare the ciidagale ex udub is in RAYS an HJ party. Clan logic dictates that he be in a Garxajis party such as Wadani or Ucid or Xaqsoor as Arab and CG are closely familiar. But because he was offered a senior position, why would he simply be an Mp or minister when they are lower than VP. As a result his clan members voted RAYS and such scenario is present in every party to some extent and is used to gain political advantage.

Nonsense hassan ciise never arrested ina kaahin he put him off his duties , ina kaahin imidiatly had problems with the administration of tuur and hassan ciise, it had nothing to do with clan it had something to do with the SNM divisions back in diredhawe in the 80s. The same way Siilaanyo had problems controlling the top military officers of the SNM in the 80s when he arrested Muse Biixi Maxamamd cilmi galan Dhagoweyne and general jidhif. This still has nothing to do with Siilaanyo and hassan ciise jamac there relations were always good in the 80s in the early 90s. Hassan ciise even said in 2010 that its good if Siilaanyo is wins the elections. The Maryo cas against the maryalool nonsense no longer exist cigaal ciise muse and the Ciidagale had the biggest beef in hargeysa in the 90s. And today they are the best allies and Jamaal is from the exact sub sub sub clan as Ina cigaal.

Bloody hell, these people have series of plot and decade of conspiracy However, alhamdulilaah we don't have assassination plot culture(dilalka qorshaysan) like Mogadishu and Bosaaso.

khalad with a capital K, nobody deserves any political position as if it is their right. It is almost 2013 and we still can't move on from clan-block voting, why can't we pick people on their credentials.
Horta on this recent elections, my mother was just telling me it is very similar to what happened in the late sixties elections of somalia, each sub clan had a party, some had two e.g. reer gadiid, reer samatar etc all in all their were about 100 different parties.
