AU troops help re-build Somalia
Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) in charge of Sector II of the African Union Mission in Somalia (Amisom) will remain in Kismayu, Somalia until a leadership vacuum is solved and security in the country stabilises.
KDF Information Officer Col Cyrus Oguna, said on Thursday the troops will be spending another Christmas in Somalia where they are involved in efforts to restore peace in the war-torn country.
“The troops will not be coming home for Christmas. They are there to get the work done and will only move out once leadership issues are handled and the Jubaland region is handed over to widely accepted leaders,” Col Oguna, told Nation.
Kenyan troops have been carrying out a military operation in Jubaland, since the Somali incursion in October last year.
Various battalions and platoons are posted in different towns of southern Somalia.
There are also thousands of KDF soldiers in Baadade, Hosingo, Fafadun, Kolbio and in Kismayu.
For almost a month now, an Intergovernmental Authority on Development (Igad) meeting has been taking place in Kismayu to come up with an agreeable leadership for Jubaland.
“Previously, the meeting was being held in Nairobi but when the security situation improved it was decided that the consultations be held in Kismayu,” Col Oguna said.
Among the issues that the Igad meeting is discussing include filling of vacant administrative seats such as the Mayor of Kismayu and Governor of Jubaland and how to improve security in the vast region.
Normalcy returns
The Jubaland area comprises, Gedo, Lower Juba and Middle Juba regions.
All the clans from southern Somalia have their representatives in the Igad meeting.
The leaders of the Darod/Ogaden community are dominant in Kismayu while other clans in the region include Absame and Harti.
Life is slowly returning back to normal in the port city of Kismayu after its bloodless heroic capture from Al-Shabaab terrorists by the Kenyan forces in September.
Thousands of residents who fled the heavy fighting are returning back to Kismayu, while residents who stayed behind have started re-building their lives by engaging in fishing, small businesses and subsistence farming.
Further progress is being made elsewhere in the war against the Al-Shabaab militants.
The Al-Qaeda-linked group has been weakened after its ouster from Kismayu, their last bastion.
On Sunday, the Somali National Army backed by Amisom troops captured the provincial capital of Middle Shabelle, Jowhar, and the nearby towns of Burane and Mahaday.

Bribed Kenyan reporter somehow explains everything. Let the Kenyans leave, I honestly don't even think we will hear Ogaden brought up while discussing Kismaayo's leadership like the last 20 years and all prior.
Re: AU troops help re-build Somalia
Voltage what happened to the 20 day admin change? Did Sheikh Ahmed Madoobe outsmart Sade's leadership or was The Muscle of Absame a deterrent to 300km away Ahlul Sufa Wal Habasha?

The last time there was a clan fight in Kismaayo, I know you were chased out of the country.
Re: AU troops help re-build Somalia
When was that? When you backstabbed The House after it captured the city?
A fight between Sade and Absame without any outside interference(including HSM) would turn into The Genocide of Sade, and indeed I do not wish such a thing. However I challenge you to bring forth a single Sade group out there that can take on Izziddin Ar-Ras Kamboni and the 4000 strong Azania troops.

Re: AU troops help re-build Somalia
If AU leaves & the extremist Shababs were even still a factor, the Ogaden will & can surely take the entire southern Somalia. I say that with confidence because with Ogaden armed and Ethiopia no longer backing the Ogaden Oppositions in Somalia, the dynamic of the Somali politics has changed for ever. This is in fact known to both the International Community and the neighboring countries. If the Belgiums did no disarm the Absame locals and even fought them to keep them out of Kismayu when they tried to retake it, no one from Galgaduud would have ever dreamed of ever setting a foot in the region. Anyone having issue now, will forever have it. That’s just change you can take it to the bank. But let’s focus on the reality on the ground now and deal the hypothetical scenarios when they do take place. The town is experiencing a massive return, it is estimated 200 people are returning daily and the town's population will double in just six months time. Everyone is welcome as long as they are native of the city or the wider region. I have no doubt the town will experience a business boom as the Diaspora business owners are flocking to the town. The troops are vigilant of the extremist sympathizers and those who used to serve the war criminals like Indhacade, Gobale & Bare Usain Bolt.

Hard Rock, If Kenyan troops left tomorrow the only challenger would be HSM. However our Kenyan vessel isn't going anywhere anytime soon therefore giving our troops enough time to improve their training and weaponry to take on any non-native troublemakers.

Re: AU troops help re-build Somalia
Colonel, I disagree. AS doesn’t have the same muscle as before especially in the Jubbas, they were militarily decimated through sky bombardment and also keep in mind the number the soldiers they lost in their year long war they waged to defend lower Jubba. On top of that their number one recruitment territory is longer in their hands. With those facts plus Absame being armed to teeth I don’t think AS can stop Absame advancement. For instance, the Absame troops that are suppose to liberate the Middle Jubba have been on idle waiting for AU military leaders to co-ordinate and give the GO otherwise Absame will be sipping CanoBodhe in Buale. Also, the Absame troopers are in stone throw away from Bardhere, chilling in Fafahdhun ready for AU to give a green light.

Re: AU troops help re-build Somalia
I honestly feel sorry for the level of delusion here vis-a-vis challenge to Marehan's preminent political and military position in southern Somalia. Marehan troops are in Kismaayo, in Jannay Cabdalle, in Afmadoow, and in Dhooblay. Former Azania spokesman now says something opposite: unrecorded Ogaden troops ever having been in Gedo, But I know it is superficial and therein lies why I feel "sorry." Ogaden waa tol and it is best not to go to far with them no matter how self-evident the reality is.
Once Baardheere is free and Marehan's attention in Gedo turns to greater Jubbaland, the Tsunami will descend.
War jiraba cakaarahuu imaan.

It's always been MZ vs sade and will continue to be that.
