I paid off 20K in 12 months. You are not screwed for life. Living with family definitely helps though.

I have no debt now. Beginning of the year, I had about $10k (student loan and my sister's car). Paid all that shid off. But living at home helps

Aaabo is in Somalia, I'm paying all the bills... while hooyo takes care of food

It depends who you own the debt to? If they are big companies. Challenge them and let them send it to collections. Deal with collection guys (usually 75% off ) and then clear your credit after that. I know it's not the best but it worked for me multiple times.

If it's family or qabiil members. tell em you are dead broke . don't pay for sh1t

If I were you, I would have consolidated them all in one loan (if possible) into a loan that has a low interest rate. If you can do it, it would be great at least you do not need to worry about having several loans. If that is not an option for you, then, take the biggest loan, if it is a credit card debt, tranfer it to a collateral loan, you know, take a loan against your car loan if you own it free and clear or against your savings or any CDs (if available). Also, paying an extra amount to any loan in addition to your regular monthly payments, will cut down alot of unnecessary future interest loan payments.

Took a loan for 2 years of uni, and the other 2 years I funded myself. I paid off the first loan this summer, and I'll finish the rest by this summer inshaAllah. I learned from my brother who graduated w/ 40k deep.

I just calculated I am $34,000 in debt and only God knows when or if I will pay it off. It is at the bottom of my list of the things i'd spend money on.
