Even with 185, you still gotta balance that budget. I do believe however, that Somaliland has more money the local government does not tap into. The idea of taxes has yet to take hold.

Somalilands budget when compared to other african countries that have had peace and development since independence is not so bad and is even greater in real and absolute terms than countries like central african republic and when ratio is compared using size of population to budget, it is nearly equal to Niger, Mali and Uganda, and greater than Ethiopia and eritrea.

Central african republic with a population nearly as big as Somaliland with 4.4 million to somalilands 4 million estimate has
a budget of $300 million only. It looks bigger than somalilands doesnt it?
but because it is a recognized country it gets direct budget support as aid, not indirect aid through projects and NGO's like Somaliland, and this aid makes up upto 50% of the budget . so that means $150 million is the real budget.
now compare that to somalilands $185.

Niger and Mali have populations of 16 and 18 million the same ration is used , the budget is not too far from somaliland.


so its not a bad achievement for an unrecognized country..

I know this, and yet the figure still seems unpalatable and insulting to me. And how much of that is aid. Somehow, even with the fact of being unrecognized and having no access to investment and proper aid, I know we can get that figure much, much higher. There are unrecognized regions in the world with better held than some recognized ones.

For one thing, I would ask donor countries to give us aid in terms of science and mathematic textsbooks instead of cash. As well as school equipment and scientific apparatus for classroom experiments.

It is keeping increasing but we don't see much difference on the ground. So ask yourself this Khalid where does much of the budget exactly go to? And don't say
the military they are not even highly equipped nor do they fight Khaatumo anti Somaliland rebels this days. We already know the building of road infrastructure
is mainly the credit of the ordinary people and not the government.

non sense, taxing the people 200 million for what?? what exactly does the goverment do for them, nothing. This is just expected revenue from taxation it doesn't mean they have this much money its just a projection.

Not a single large company pays taxes, nor a single rich somalilander nor a single politcian all this revenue comes from poor old lady selling sweets in the street or milk or qaad. its a shame the likes of emprorer finds this a great accomplishment.
