Ambitious Somali women?

Post by CilmiDoone »

Where you all hiding at  The UK folks just wanna get their ceyr, be a housewife, use kids as an excuse and not work or have ambition. It pisses me off when you get a healthy young chick wanting to be a housewife and sit at home. Get of your lazy arse, put that kid in child-care and go to work

There are all kinds of jobs out there Tuushi, U PM what kind of job u'r looking for. I appreciate that there are all kinds of limiting factors, thats life, but im talking about young Somali females who were brought up here being lazy.

Im one of those people with the mindset that if you there is a will, there is way.

:blessed: I cant comment on the U.S, I've never been there. But there are a lot of educated xaliimos here as well but it seems that there is a notable lazy minority.

 From my observations, Snetter males fall under 3 categories:

Group A: I want to be the breadwinner aka I own you aka you're my field

Group B: Nicca it's 2012; erryting 50/50!

Group C: You can work so long as I make a lot more than you, and you still have to do all the housework..because I make more than you

Cilmi, could you please specify which group you fall into?

Group D: Its 2013; religiously speaking, bills are not the woman's responsibility  although if she wants to contribute thas fine. Housework is not the woman's outright responsibility either, so it should also be shared, childcare is shared. But unless there are exceptional circumstance, u the woman gotta work even if it part time, its healthy for the woman, is a good role-model to the kids, makes strategic sense (as a backup, or if anything happens to the man because we're all mortal) and it balances out the relationship.

So what are you saying... woman should pay all the bills, woman should do house-work, woman should do childcare? What's the problem with my stance, better yet what's your stance? :mindblown:

No, what I'm saying is that in practice, you prolly fall into one of those 3 groups. Hypothetically speaking, you're a dream come true; however in reality, you're not exceptional.

Here is what you said: "Group C: You can work so long as I make a lot more than you, and you still have to do all the housework..because I make more than you".

My stance: The woman should work. However, in my book it doesnt matter who makes more so long as the two people have a healthy relationship.
The wife shouldn't have to do all the housework or childcare. religiously speaking there is nothing to say that those are womenly duties and they should be shared as the household and kids are the responsibilities of both parties. The reason why I say that the woman should/ought to work, is precisely so that there is no real or perceived inbalance in the relationship or false notions of allocation of responsibilities (in the fashion of Somali ftradition). But unless there are exceptional circumstance, u the woman gotta work even if it part time, its healthy for the woman, is a good role-model to the kids, makes strategic sense (as a backup, or if anything happens to the man because we're all mortal) and it balances out the relationship.

Realistically, there are some limitations to this hypothetical situation. During pregnancies, childbirth and the early ages of a child's life, the mother can for obvious reasons not work. But IMO the mother should get back to work ASAP after maternity leave, perhaps on reduced hours. Alternatively if there is the possibility for working flexible hours the man and the woman can share the duties. I believe what I believe, whether you think its practical or not, is up to you. BTW, what is your personal stance on this?

I want a cook, a maid, a Jag in my name, a couple acres of land, and get paid to sip daquiris by the beach.
