Greetings from the port city of Boosaaso...
Fellow Snetters, this is compadre Barbarossa wishing you and your loved ones the best.
Praise is to Allah SWT, for at last granting me the long-sought-after wish of one day restoring me to my beloved Somalia from which, due to circumstances, I have been separated for the better part of my adult life. I am now visiting for the first time Bosaaso, a bustling commercial town in North-Eastern coast of Somalia, after spending couple of weeks in Garowe, Nugal.
I am sure some of you who have not yet had the chance of visiting dhulkii hooyo are wondering how one feels when he/she first sets feet on it, after being away from it for so long. Truth to be told, I am not quite sure, if any amount of words, no matter how eloquently phrased, would suffice to nearly express how exactly I felt upon disembarking from an antiquated two-engine air plane operated by Kenyan based, African Express Airline, at Galkayo airport. It is just one those things that one has to actually do it in order for one to have exact sense of how it feels. It is a very satisfying feeling, no doubt.
From Galkayo airport, we got into awaiting vehicle and drove immediately to Garowe without even bothering to make the customary courteous stop due to this great Somali town. In our defense, though, and may I add, before you hastily proceed to formally charge us of committing a serious offence, there were some mitigating factors that forced us to skip paying a visit to this most revered of Somali towns, and at least geographically, the very heart of the nation to boot. For the record, let it be known, we still do intend to right this wrong by allotting a slightly disproportionate number of days for the sole purpose of effecting a pilgrimage of a sort to our beloved Galciao, inchallah.

I`ve been all over the north during numerous visits to Somalia.

Brother Alchemist, I am not much of a photo enthusiast myself, but as luck would have it, I happen to be travelling with a buddy of mine who is pretty much obsessed with pictures. So far in our travel, I very much doubt if he has taken a single picture worth of a note, other than, of course, that of family and friends. Having said this though, I would certainly be more than happy to post some pictures in the coming weeks, should any be taken that I deem interesting enough for viewing here, in the Snet.Alchemist wrote:Post pictures bro as soon as you get a chance.

Thank you Starkast for wishing me a safe trip. As to your question of which of the two towns is safer, I must say they are both relatively safe, not withstanding the occasional sound of gun shots that one hears now and then.STARKAST wrote:So which one feels safer Bandar Qasim or Garowe.
