Islamic Resources

Post by SummerRain »

Im interested to know what are some of the websites you all use to read up on Islam.
Personally, I frequent http://kalamullah.com/index.html as it has a host of lectures, e-books, etc and any Muslim and non- Muslim can find useful information pertaining to Islam at any level.

http://podcast.bayyinah.com/ is also a nice site if you are looking for tasfir, I think the two brothers who do the tasfir (Nouman Ali Khan and Sheikh Jangda) do a great job trying to make the Quran relevant to us in modern terms by using examples and issues impacting us today.

kallamullah  treasure of a website.

muslimmatters, great for current events/spiritual articles, written from the perspective of muslims living in the West.

Islamicity, has a lot of cool features, including a phonetic search tool so that you can look up any ayah without knowing the surah, just by sounding it out.

Ismahan since you speak Arabic you should take advantage of all the major books in tafsir like inn Kathir, Qurtubi etc.
Fiqh books like Majmo Nawawi, Muqni ibn Qudama. Hadith books like Fathu Baari. These books cover all the different aspects of Islam and are considered major sources.

My advice is go straight to the sources in Arabic since your able to.

I have MuslimMatters bookmarked, and I agree it's a nice site for Muslims in the west. I will check out Islamcity.

The purpose for the topic is to exchange information and I guess get an idea of where people get information. In regards to knowing Arabic, as it is a great advantage when learning Quran and about Islam, I am still not comfortable to study/interpret on my own these great books, rather do it under a teacher. These website are useful because you might actually find a interpretation of books and lectures of great scholars that the average individual can understand.... Knowledge is benefical when one humbles himself first :)

It's much better to create a library at home. That way everyone can benefit, your kids can gain knowledge too and grow up to love books.
