Assalamu Alaikum,

The students of knowledge gathered together and said let us test our Shaykh as the students of Imaam al-Bukhaaree tested the knowledge of their Shaykh. So they got together one day and decided to ask him a question for which an answer did not exist. They asked him about the wind called infishaar, so the Shaykh answered saying:

In-nal hamda lillaah, nahmaduhu wa nasta’eenuhu… this question was a question asked to the Salaf and their reply was that indeed it is a huge wind which comes from the east. In Yemen the meaning of infishaar linguistically means …so and so… and from the Sharee’ah its meaning is ...so and so…

Many of the Ulemah spoke about this wind (the students are listening intensively and are shocked), as-Shawkaani said it was the wind that ..so and so... and Shaykh-ul-Islaam ibn Taymiyyah said ...so and so... the Ulemah of the four Madaahib agreed on this understanding ...so and so...

He went on waffling mentioning Imaam al-Bukhaaree, Imaam Muslim and many of names of the Salaf upon which the students are now staring deeply at him and each other - they are now feeling very uncomfortable...

Then he said: And Allaah mentioned so and so about it in the Qur’aan and the Messenger said ...so and so... upon which the students could take no more and they yelled:

Stop! Stop! Stop! - Please don’t lie against Allaah and His Messenger!!!

That was the case of Mufti infishaar an example of the hadeeth:

“…a person will continually lie until he is written down with Allaah as a liar…”

Some of the causes of such a disease are:

1. Love of Praise
2. No humbleness
3. Competing with contemporaries
4. Arrogance
5. And many more

May Allah save us all from such characteristics and enable us to be humble in our knowledge.
